Gloucester Golf Club

After reading in their website it was a challenging course and they had held several tournaments there I was hoping for a wild round.

The course itself isn’t the most challenging with the exception of a couple of sloping and narrow fairways.

The hardest part of this course was the condition of the greens, I don’t think there was one half decent green, they all played at varying speeds and hole 16 (I think) had so many creators in it we had to give up!

I used to play this course a lot, first time back in about 15 years

I’ve always enjoyed playing here, good price for a Saturday afternoon got round in three and a half hours for a two ball

The course is having a lot of work done at the moment and the greens are really hard as they haven’t been watered

We will happily go back

Despite the very visible ongoing work to install a new sprinkler system we thoroughly enjoyed a sunny round with stunning views. Some great designed holes. This course, like many others, could do with a drip of rain. Would return….. good value. Thank you.

Second time playing this course and decided wisely beforehand to have a buggy as the 11th is a killer lol.

The staff are very welcoming and helpful.

There is some irrigation happening around greens as the were very dry and hard to hold anything on them,but this didn't spoil our round.

Overall very enjoyable round ,but slightly marred by some very aggressive members that were behind us on the front nine and bombing balls at us before we had cleared some of them greens.

Will definitely return despite this.

This course has become really neglected. The greens are horrific now and don’t run true.

Overall upkeep of the course is really poor.

I saw a deal on this course while working away so played as a single golfer, teeing off mid morning. I arrived at the course and was allowed to tee off earlier than my tee time as it was clear. All 18 holes were playing off temporary tees, no temporary greens. Areas of the course were boggy but again overall condition of the course was good.

HOLES 1-9

These were reachable holes in comparison to the par and overall the front part of the course is flat. Fairly open in places and in places tight with the tree lines. Some of the holes have water.

HOLES 10-18

This is where the title of the review comes into it, Hole 11 is approx 200yard uphill, great challenging hole and it’s only once you get up past the 11th are you playing on the hills, with spectacular views. (There’s a dry ski village next to one of the holes, so you can imagine the incline). The back 9 is steep, open and Challenging and after 14 you start to come back down again.

Overall I thought for the price you pay the course was very good. I ate in the bar / clubhouse afterwards and was invited to use the WiFi .

Had a lovely round of golf and despite the recent wet weather the course was in a very good condition especially the greens. The temporary tees weren't the best but didn't spoil the enjoyment. Staff on and off the course were friendly and helpful. Will definitely play again. Views from some of the holes were beautiful.

Outstanding views from holes 11-18

We played this course 2/3 weeks ago and wasn’t impressed as the greens were dry and rock hard, like they’d not seen any water for months, but after the rainfall we had over the last few weeks, we thought we’d have another try, as the back 9 on this course is amazing!!

To our delight the course played amazing especially after they hollotined aswell!!

Will definitely be back.
