Bad luck
Unfortunately club suffered extreme lack of water so greens in poor state. New irration system now installed but pipelines still not filled in .
Paid £30 for buggy only for it to breakdown at top of course. Lads got up within 10mins and got me going again .
Gonna take rest of season to recover I think so will retry next year maybe.
Save your money .. go to the range
Multiple holes played off mats due to negative maintaining of tees.
Greens have cracks in .. one measuring 4cm .. fairways are dead .. major course redesign under place mid summer season .. differ on the fairway ?!
Inland links course
I’ve played this track before and enjoyed the round. The club members are welcoming and have invited me to join their flight and a welcome drink at the 19th.
The course has numerous sloped fairways so picking the right line is vital otherwise you’ll find your ball in the rough.
Today the fairways were dry and hard and the greens unpredictable. Speaking with a member I found out that the watering system had been upgraded but it was suggested too late and the hot weather exacerbated the poor green condition.
Online booking for 18 holes £20 plus a £1 booking fee it’s great value especially when the course is properly watered. With the very hot weather, there are watering restrictions.
Great food and drinks in the clubhouse. The sausage baguette is a club favourite for good reason.
I’m the President they will let me through
Played Gloucester many of times. The course is now in poor condition and most greens unplayable.
The dry weather and poor course maintenance has destroyed 17 out of the 18 greens.
We were a three ball behind a four ball, pace of play was okay we were not waiting on any of the tees to take our shots. The hour round took exactly 4 hours.
A four ball were playing behind us and they asked if they could play through. We replied when you catch us then yes but there is a four ball in front of us. . Apparently they were playing a competition and that gave them priority.
We told them we are not holding ythem up and the four ball in front are not playing slow. One of them the piped up they will have to let us through because I’m the club president !!!!
We let them through as we just don’t want the Club pretentious president and his cronies behind us.
Talk about an abuse of position, I’d be embarrassed to be associated with someone that arrogant
So overall shocking greens and a very odd introduction to the clubs president,
Desperate need of green repairs
The greens were unplayable. Might be the worst greens I’ve come across, temporary fairway greens are better! Fairways and tee boxes okay at best. Course layout is the silver lining- fun and has potential. Just needs an incredible amount of TLC. I would not recommend this golf course sadly.
Nice course layout - greens need work
Course layout was nice and some challenging holes. Greens are poor, very dry and bare
Some course work to do
While it was reasonably priced, it was discounted due to course conditions. Greens were shocking. Tee boxes well off par. And lots of trenches dug for irrigation system which is well needed. It’s like the course has been badly neglected for many years and they are planning to revive it,,, when it is, I’ll be back. But not for a few years. Good luck repairing it
Greens Unplayable
Really disappointed with this course currently. Have played it once before in September/October last year and really enjoyed it and it was in a great condition.
Played it yesterday and despite 2 months of build up to a round of golf we’d all been looking forward to playing for a trophy, we gave up after 8 holes. The fairways are good, tee boxes bearable but the greens are the worst I’ve ever encountered when playing golf. Hopefully be repaired soon but for now would avoid as not even worth the fee of £25 in the state they’re in.
Awful Quality Overall!
Overall the course was incredibly poor, probably the worst I have ever played, the fairways were ok but there was a small dug up line running down the sides of most of them. However the greens were the worst I’ve ever seen on an 18 hole course, most of the greens were about 20% grass and 80% dirt. With some of the greens having serious dead patches and even holes! And I don’t mean the golf hole. There was patches of dead grass almost everywhere you looked even off the green and the tee boxes were the same, some of them basically just sand. Almost every green was a different speed and on a green every part of the green was different speed aswell. I usually 2 putt or 1 putt about 13-14 holes, I think I had about 3 on these greens. Overall never worth the £25 and a complete rip off in my book…
The greens were unplayable
I’d played here before a couple of years ago, however this time around was awful. The course clearly hadn’t been watered for a significant period of time and the greens were as dry as the Sahara. As a result there was little to no grass on many of the greens and they had cracked open making them virtually unplayable.
Unplayable greens.
Friendly helpful staff.
Nice layout but "next hole" information very poor, we didn't know where the next tee boxes were.
The greens were awful, I'm not exaggerating, they were the worst I've EVER played on. Bone dry, roxk hard, hardly any grass, some were just plain dust, totally unplayable, I would be embarrassed if I was a groundsman there. If I was a member I would be raging at the conditions. Truly disgusting and i would like a refund on my round.
Greens are unplayable
Gutted as we’ve been back for the first time this year and they’ve destroyed the greens, no water for weeks by the looks of things, looks like they tried to hollotined but then gave up.
Absolute joke and they’re charging £33-45 a round.
Won’t be back again this year and I advise others to stay away!!
You need to water the greens!!!
Gloucester GC
The club was friendly and so were everyone we met on the course. It was really let down by the quality of the greens - very patchy to extent of bald in places. I was told they are spending a lot of money on their watering systems so I hope that helps.
Great staff. Very warm and welcoming
This was interesting course to play and the back 9 had some really good views together with interesting and challenging holes.
Very enjoyable and great vale
Great potential, shame about the greens
After reading in their website it was a challenging course and they had held several tournaments there I was hoping for a wild round.
The course itself isn’t the most challenging with the exception of a couple of sloping and narrow fairways.
The hardest part of this course was the condition of the greens, I don’t think there was one half decent green, they all played at varying speeds and hole 16 (I think) had so many creators in it we had to give up!
I also have to agree with this. I've played here for many years, it is without doubt the worst course I think I've ever played on. Really poor. Won't be playing again. Shame really as used to be excellent condition.
