Golfer Reviews
Gloucester GC
Will be a fantastic layout once the development has finished. However, could do with ball washers.
Hats off to the Green Staff amazing greens
The staff at Gloucester Golf Club have clearly worked exceptionally hard to recover the greens from earlier in the year. The course was well maintained and greens so much better. Brilliant job by the staff. A great course all down to hard work. Congratulations to the whole Gloucester Golf Club team
Great course but currently has irrigation issues
Once the irrigation issues are sorted then the course will be back to its former self
Nice course, excellent back nine
Back nine was the stand out part of the course. With some well layed out holes and in good condition post the recent rain fall
Great mature layout
Picked the only rough weather day [storm] in a very long summer and the day they were digging the drive to fix the road as well. Staff super helpful before and after the round and really enjoyed the clear and mature course layout which was really classic. Greens were pretty tough and rough they were struggling and normally i wouldve had a moan but as everything else was so good just sucked it up. Not too narrow, fair amount of ditches water and bunkers without going all target golf - this was great bargain for social golf at golf now rates will deffo play again.
Quick round
Had an excellent round with great pace of play. Quality of the greens are much improved. Making some modifications to the course, so the 4th and 7th were shortened, but good all around.
Conditions getting there
Lots of irrigation work still happening so there are still a lot of extra hazards.
Greens are slowly getting better now there has been rain.
Overall, you are getting what you pay for.
Good value and interesting course
Two very different 9 holes. Front 9 is a relatively straight forward parkland feel with a nice mix of longer and shorter par 4’s
Back nine has great views over Gloucester once you make it up the 11th. Very hilly and has some fun downhill holes to hit a bit drive on.
Greens could do with a bit of attention - had some bare patches. But good for the price point
Very Tired, Poor Course Conditions
No warm up facilities - range bookable only and fully booked
Unfriendly staff
Tired facilities
Greens unplayable due to large mud patches, holes and general damage.
Teeboxes are uneven and just mud.
Fairways are actually in ok condition.
Large construction going on and around fairways.
Generally very tired and course in barely playable condition.
Course not in great shape
Greens are in very poor condition, almost impossible to putt on.
Lots of ditches around the course, being dug for some improvements presumably, but this was never mentioned.
The course in general is bare, with lots of cracks, but I understand a lot of that is down to the dry conditions, so not unexpected.
Greens
This course should not be on golf now!
Apart from the scenery on the back 9 which were amazing this course should not be open.
The greens were absolutely diabolical with disease, hardly any grass on them full of cracks and holes and impossible to play on.
Golf now should be ashamed about this course on their site.
Great course under maintenance
The course is well designed and obviously well maintained but at present it’s this maintenance (irrigation system) that is the only downside to the course. The greens are largely in disrepair owing to the hot summer/lack of rain but where they’re healthy, you can tell it’s a very good course under normal circumstances. Look forward to the irrigation being finished and playing there again once it’s complete
Bad luck
Unfortunately club suffered extreme lack of water so greens in poor state. New irration system now installed but pipelines still not filled in .
Paid £30 for buggy only for it to breakdown at top of course. Lads got up within 10mins and got me going again .
Gonna take rest of season to recover I think so will retry next year maybe.
Save your money .. go to the range
Multiple holes played off mats due to negative maintaining of tees.
Greens have cracks in .. one measuring 4cm .. fairways are dead .. major course redesign under place mid summer season .. differ on the fairway ?!
Inland links course
I’ve played this track before and enjoyed the round. The club members are welcoming and have invited me to join their flight and a welcome drink at the 19th.
The course has numerous sloped fairways so picking the right line is vital otherwise you’ll find your ball in the rough.
Today the fairways were dry and hard and the greens unpredictable. Speaking with a member I found out that the watering system had been upgraded but it was suggested too late and the hot weather exacerbated the poor green condition.
Online booking for 18 holes £20 plus a £1 booking fee it’s great value especially when the course is properly watered. With the very hot weather, there are watering restrictions.
Great food and drinks in the clubhouse. The sausage baguette is a club favourite for good reason.
I’m the President they will let me through
Played Gloucester many of times. The course is now in poor condition and most greens unplayable.
The dry weather and poor course maintenance has destroyed 17 out of the 18 greens.
We were a three ball behind a four ball, pace of play was okay we were not waiting on any of the tees to take our shots. The hour round took exactly 4 hours.
A four ball were playing behind us and they asked if they could play through. We replied when you catch us then yes but there is a four ball in front of us. . Apparently they were playing a competition and that gave them priority.
We told them we are not holding ythem up and the four ball in front are not playing slow. One of them the piped up they will have to let us through because I’m the club president !!!!
We let them through as we just don’t want the Club pretentious president and his cronies behind us.
Talk about an abuse of position, I’d be embarrassed to be associated with someone that arrogant
So overall shocking greens and a very odd introduction to the clubs president,
Desperate need of green repairs
The greens were unplayable. Might be the worst greens I’ve come across, temporary fairway greens are better! Fairways and tee boxes okay at best. Course layout is the silver lining- fun and has potential. Just needs an incredible amount of TLC. I would not recommend this golf course sadly.
Nice course layout - greens need work
Course layout was nice and some challenging holes. Greens are poor, very dry and bare
