Greatwood Golf Club
About
Greatwood is known for its white sand bunkers and impressive par 3s, three of which play right at or over 200 yards. The 1989 Carlton Gipson design features elevated tees and greens that sandwich plush fairways and are contoured with mounds.
The 434-yard par 4 hole 5 is one difficult par, featuring a fairways loaded with bunkers and involves water on the approach. No. 18 goes 576, yards. While the tee shot is fairly standard, the second shot must land short of a plateau and might involve a blind approach shot if placed too far to the left. The intimidating approach plays into a green surrounded by water on three sides.
Getting there : From Hwy. 59 south, turn left on Crab River Rd., then make a left onto the other side of Hwy. 59. Look for Greatwood Pkwy. and make another left when you get there.

Great course!
Course was in excellent condition from fairways to greens. Course is challenging and has a great layout. Will be returning soon.
Great Layout… horrible everything else
Lived on this course my whole life. The family that owns it now does not care about their customers or the condition of the course. They used to use water from the ponds to water the course and that was when it was in the best condition. They got caught… they only water once a week which is on Friday before they scam golfers 60-80 bucks for decent condition. Other than that it’s bone dry, bring a drill for the tee box.
However this is one of my favorite courses to play because of the lay out. Hopefully the lazy family does something.
Decent
Other than houses tight to the course on many holes, it's an overall very good layout. Lots of challenge. Tee boxes pretty hard (tees hard to put in) and course drying out quickly. Greens were decent. Pace was a little slow. Definitely not very walkable with tons of distance between holes. Decent day on a decent course.
I felt so bad.
I felt so bad. There was no service and I got racism at the counter. I don't want to go again.
Good for a Hot Deal
Was 30 bucks for a hot deal. Not the best conditions but good layout. Greens are small and tricky. Pace of play was good. Overall good value for HOT DEAL.
Good golf but gps issue
Because of rain/hail stopped playing after 13 holes. Course played true. Greens were a little slow, but were wet.
My biggest issue was on 7 of my 13 holes played the gps golf cart froze on me on the cart path and told me to only go in reverse until on path. I had to exit the path to be back on its path and 3 times the moment I went back on paved cart path went thru the freeze and reverse. When I returned cart and shared that with staff person I was told “”It may be because of the rain.” The other cart that was with me had no issues so……
DON’T PLAY HERE BEFORE READING
Played here today for the first time. $65. What a dump. The greens are thrashed. The fairways are bare. Weeds are growing everywhere. I was shocked because the homes in that community are beautiful. This course needs new management and a greenskeeper. Don’t take my forward for it. Look at the pictures from today. We
Good golf
Greens were in fine shape. Not so tee boxes, which need work to flatten and resod.
Nice place
It is a good place, but I don't like that there is so much water, although I lost 4 balls in the water... a couple of those balls was because where I was you couldn't see the water and what do you think? Well they ended up in the water
As a beginner golfer this course was challenging but fun. It forced me to plan and focus on all my strokes. I would definitely play here again
Sanded Greens 04/16
When I booked my round I did not know that the course was in process of sanding all of its greens.
The course was almost empty, but the greens were unplayable. 1/2 inch of sand in some spots.
I'm glad that Greatwood is finally doing real maintenance to their course after 15 years of neglect. I would prefer that they announce major projects.
Nice for $40
Greens were in bad shape. Half of the holes were cart path only even though it was bone dry. As you went to hole 1 it stated 90 degree rule.
GPS alarm is annoying as you approach stop signs and underpasses
New Golf Carts - TERRIBLE
They have gps guided golf carts that shut down and automatically stop on the paths. The cart stopped at least 10 times and I wasn’t even off the cart path They constantly chime! It’s so annoying. I won’t be back until it gets fixed.
