For the money it was fine.
Lovely parkland course which actually has an interesting layout.
Driveable holes are actually reigned in by good feature placement and offers a risk and reward tee or makes you think about placement.
The course itself needs some TLC. Tee boxes were overgrown and many where slanted and didn't offer a good footing. Bunkers were growing fauna. The greens were in a good condition but were slow could do with a rolling.
For the money it was an enjoyable round of golf.
Right course with nice holes
A few bunkers need sorting as weeds are growing and all should be raked daily but seems they have been left for weeks or months.
The course is well layer out and some really nice holes, no need for a driver here more a thinking course will certainly play again and hope those bunkers are sorted.
Lingfield
Course was better for the rain we have had 5th Hole still very difficult due to the slope on the fairway and the lack of semi rough to the right hand side however great course. The biggest issue with the 19th hole is as its attached to a hotel you pay top £ for your pre & post drinks.
Not worth the price
Wasn't the best-kept course; some of the fairways acyually had grass missing and the greens were very slow due to different lengths.
Not great
All areas of course need attention.
Service in bar was poor and social distancing regulations were not enforced.
Poor
An unloved golf course. Never seen bunkers with so much vegetation and the greens are unforgiving bad. Their is a video showing grounds man and their machinery Augusta style! Why don’t they use them. The greens are like sponge and very slow. The fairways are poor but I can understand that this could not be helped due to v hot summer weather. It’s a crying shame that a Nick Faldo designed golf course has become in such a poor condition.
Pace of play ruined round.
Golf Now really needs to do something about golf clubs not updating the tee times available and trying to pair you up with other golfers. Warnings on the booking pages need to be given.. When we booked there were plenty of times and on the morning of the round there still were plenty of available times, suggesting not a busy course,. However upon arrival, queues, queues and queues and the club trying to pair us up with others! I have never waited on the 8th tee with four groups of four in front of us and the round took 5 hours. Chaos!
Bunkers unplayable and barren fairways along with the queuing let this once decent course down badly.
Tricky
Really nice tricky course makes you think on most holes. Needs good course management. Keep the driver in the bag.
Greens a bit woolly but didn't affect an enjoyable day.
Golf Lingfeild
This is not the first time playing this course however at this price its a steal. The only criticism is having to use the hotel for drinks etc which are soooo expensive.
I will play this course again as it is good track
General
Fairways struggling due to heat. Bunkers should be classified GUR. Unfortunately we were the last two ball out followed the volunteers litter picking all round us for the first 9 holes, nice people but at least 6 buggies and walkers all around us- somewhat ruined the round.
A little bit of effort would go a long way
The course is a nice little layout, not the up, down, up, down you get at some courses. Shame the greens weren't in top condition, the fairways rock solid and missing grass and the bunkers have well-established grass growing in them. Doubt I'll return as for the price I paid there are better courses around. Guess that explains why non-members can get a Saturday morning Tee time.
Interesting course with variety of holes
I have played here many times and always enjoy the challenge. The bunkers were poor with weeds in growing in them we decided to treat them all as GUR, the fairways were showing sings of drought conditions very bare and patchy again we decided to play preference lies. Most of the greens were good and receptive but some had brown patchy areas. We have always considered removing the ponds on 18 a mistake. A bridge across to the 17 green would help play also (an expensive luxury to add and maintain though).
