I have been playing this course for decades. Some fairways are so undulating. We will think there’s Florida sinkholes.

Many tee boxes are far from level, making it difficult to get a stance

I have played this course 150-200 times (I live 10 miles from the course). They revamped the greens around four years ago. They aerated the green and sanded them 3-4 weeks ago. They are in GREAT shape.

Nice, somewhat challenging layout.

They have an electronic gating system which is HIGHLY annoying. If you get outside the gate you hear 2-3 beeps and your dead in the water. They need to have 2-3 beeps with a message that says you have 20 seconds to get back inside the gate. As it is...I hate the gate system.

Other than that, it's a great course.

I’ve played here probably 9 times in the last 2 months. Always over booked. It gets stacked up like firewood. They let the school kids just take over the course. Jumping holes and cutting people off. It’s the only golf course around tempu

Maybe the friendliest staff I’ve ever met on a golf course. Course was is in nice condition. Greens were rolling well.

The pace of play was surprisingly good as we were a twosome, but rarely had to wait on the foursome ahead until the ninth hole. The course was in decent shape, but loses points because of the golfers more than the course crew, i.e., divots not replaced nor filled even though each cart has sand, bunkers not raked, etc.

Word of warning for those unfamiliar with the course, as the layout for holes 1, 9, and 18 kind of criss-cross, also the path to 12 requires either going around or through the tee off path on another hole. That said, it's a challenging course and a fun play.

We wondered why they aerated the greens in August.

We assumed they did it in spring as well but if they are doing it now, might be a bigger issue.

Wide open and forgiving for newer golfers. Water is in play on most holes but easily avoidable with proper club selection. Friendly staff. Would recommend.

Except for teeing off 20 minutes late, it ended up only being a 4-hour round. I think they could have done better in pushing full foursomes after the senior event.

But there started called in sick and I guess he is the only one who knows how to do that.

I've played at Sammons a few times now. I love the course and the care that's been given to it. My only drawback is the pace of play. I don't know if it's so bad due to the number of golfers/groups they try to cram in or if the folks in this area just play that slow, but it's hard to get into a good rhythm.

The worst backup is usually on the turn heading into the back 9 because of the folks that stop at the pro shop to get food, drinks or bathroom that take an extended amount of time getting back onto the course. Several times I've had 2 or 3 groups in front of me on the front 9, and when I make the turn for the back 9 it's 5 or 6 groups deep waiting to tee on 10.

I hated the electronic lock out. Didn’t pay attention to map and I was constantly being locked down. Won’t play there again if you keep electronic lock down on yne carts. Very annoyinh

Wide open course good for players of all ability. Unfortunately we followed a foursome with a four year old who played like molasses in January. The youngster ran around and the dad let him take shots and puts that went nowhere. Need marshals to stop this from being allowed.. But even more important this course has NO WATER. It was pushing near 100 degrees. No water anywhere and no drink cart. Makes you wonder why they have a sign that says no coolers allowed if they have no consideration for the patrons.

I have played this course probably 200 times in the last 10 years. This was the most crowded I have ever seen. They oversold the course. On the back nine we were waiting 15 minutes on each tee (6 holes = over an hour) waiting for the backed up two groups ahead of us. It is ridiculous. The greens were aerated around 2 weeks ago so they are not 100% healed. These will be some of the best greens around, but right now the greens, coupled with the long waits, makes this a bad choice.

Very green very crowded needs better signage. Some parts were hard but overall enjoyed it for a first time.

Summer in TX and how do you run a successful business and not have the beverage cart going mid-morning/afternoon on a Friday? Make sure you load up before you go out as there aren’t any cooler or fountains along the course neither. Course plays slow, no one to keep pace expect a 5+ hour outing. Greens are completely different from hole to hole and there are water hazards everywhere!
