Sammons Golf Course

Course layout is terrible. Pace of play was ridiculous. Once we got to the 10th tee we were backed up by 4 groups and called it quits. We couldn’t replay the front nine either because a scramble was starting. Need to figure out tee times so this doesn’t happen. 0/10 would recommend.

The good: Greens were quick but receptive to approach shots. Pro shop worker and starter were nice, and professional. Food from the grill was fresh and delicious, would have been nice to order at the 8th hole so it would be ready at the turn.

The bad: Fairways and tee boxes were mostly barren or sand covered. Several tee boxes multiple players in my group broke tees simply trying to put it in the ground. Signage is needed to navigate this course and there is none whatsoever. Having played here 20+ years ago helped but simple signs with arrows to direct you to the next holes would go a long way.

The ugly: course management is lacking, there was no tournament or league going on but we started on 10 even though 1 was wide open. After playing hole 10, we had to wait for every shot, due to us being packed in like sardines. At the turn the back 9 was wide open but the starter was puting people on the front 9. Had to wait 5 groups deep to tee off on 1. Teed off at 10:30 and finished at 3:40.

Long story short, fun course with a challenging layout, but be prepared to play extremely slow and hope you can find your way navigating this wild course layout.

First time playing this course It's difficult but very fun

Staff was very friendly and accommodating they opened up the driving range for us when they didn’t have to due to weather. It was extremely slow even for being in the winter time we thought it was gonna be not very crowded, but it was. The course was ok the fairways were dormant and the rough was really green which I found funny. The greens were good and got really fast towards the end of the round. Lots of trash on the course though. All and all we had a great time because of the people we got paired with but the course was average at best.

We teed off any 20 minutes late due to a backup. We still finished in 4.5 hours. So pace of play wasn't an issue for a Saturday.

Every single green had crabgrass growing in. Some worse than others. Could be the time of year but I haven't experienced this elsewhere. Tee boxes were horrific. Mostly sand/dirt. Also no water on the course on an 86 degree day was very surprising to me.

We only paid $35(hot deal) per person on a weekend. So I feel like the value was fine. Just feels like the course has gone downhill since I played last.

Course was ok, conditions were decent for winter weather. A bit confusing navigating from hole to hole. They need better signage. Hard to tell the 2nd cut from the fairways but all in all the course isn't too bad for the money. Will play again!

It took nearly 6 hours for our round. There were at least 2-4 groups on every hole. I don't understand why Sammons lets so many tee times out.

5 1/2 hour nearly 6 hour round. Cartpath only day when maybe only a few holes required that. Greens needed to be mowed. I have a little toughs of grass growing that would shift your ball near the hole. There was an average of three to sometimes four groups on a hole. Cart paths Desperately need dirt or gravel, grading around the edges of the car paths.

Easy to make reservations. Staff is well organized and very helpful. Course is challenging with a fair amount of water hazards. Carts are well equipped with Course map Gps. Food counter staff is friendly and fast. Nice menu. Sufficient parking on site. Highly recommended.

Sprinkler went off right when my son was setting to off, GM was rude and very rude said what do you want me to do about it dry your clothes! Was very rude like it was our problem not his! Then when going out to do the back nine , we waited in line when it was our turn some guy came hauling but and slamming on his brake right next to our cart jumps out and starts telling us he was next yelling at us bad mistake I got out of my cart to let him in no uncertain terms that I was not to be spoken like that. He was a coward didn’t have nothing to say until driving off to go get someone to tell us something didn’t happen though but I’m sure he realizes there are still men out there that will dance.

Course isn't very well maintained. Too much water and wet areas where water shouldn't be naturally. Tee boxes not mowed. Carts are GPS and won't let you drive on areas that are paved rt next to tee boxes. Just a muddy mess...

Late fall and the course conditions are showing it. Fairways are thin in many places and several fairways were hard panned without much grass. Sammons is worth the time in season. Lots of water to deal with but an enjoyable course that is not long and fun to play. The driving range has reseeded and is in terrific condition.
