Sammons Golf Course

Sammons is a really fun and challenging course. For a municipal course it is in decent shape. The layout is great! The staff is friendly. The price on the weekends is average. However they run a great deal after 3pm during the week. It’s $25 for as many holes as you can fit in with a cart! I definitely recommend playing this course!

Layout of this course is very confusing. The cart paths go all different directions with no signs directing you to each hole. Tee boxes were rough and overall course didn’t seem properly maintained.

First time I played here(visiting).almost impossible to know where where next holes are. No signs. Fortunately paired with other player who new the layout.

I love the Sammons course. It is in superb condition right now. The greens are in THE BEST shape. The course has become quite busy. We either need another 9 holes OR we need another nice course in Temple. When it's busy (which is now common), it is easy to have a 5-10 minute wait between every...single...shot.

My biggest complaint is the golf cart gate system. If you get off THE official gated system it instantly beeps around 3 times and you are dead in the water. This happened 5-8 times on this particular day. No warning beeps - that would be nice if the cart beeped 2-3 times slowly and a message came up on the screen. That would give you enough time to stop and turn around. Instead, you get 3-4 quick beeps and your cart stops. You might be 5 ft off the accepted zone. I'm not talking about getting off the cart path - it happened on the fairway 2-3 times. We were apparently to close to a big tree or something - there is NOTHING to indicate WHERE the gating begins or ends. It did not happen on this outing, but the last time we played Sammons 5-6 times it beeped and stopped ON THE CART PATH. The message on the screen said something like, "You must stay on the cart path on this hole." Lovely...we were ON the cart path.

This gating system is very annoying. That is why we stopped playing Sammons for a while. Sad given how great the course is right now.

Fun course to play, pace is usually pretty fast during the week.

I really just wish it being in Central Texas there was a few water coolers out there, & not everyone is considerate of the course so a few trash cans would probably help it look a bit more tidy.

Popped in on an early Sunday morning. I had planned on just having a quiet round of golf by myself. I was then told I would have a partner when I offered to pay more for my own cart I was told it was not allowed. The gentleman who was getting my cart was actually very rude questioning why would I want to play by myself? Never returning here again I don’t think it’s anybody’s business whether or not I wanna play by myself or why. If you’re a solo player like me avoid this place like the plague, very unfriendly staff!!!

The fairways need work on several holes. I still don't understand why they haven't fixed all the ruts and bumps on the first hole. Fairways were inconsistent mowing heights. Enjoyed playing after much of the overgrowth was cut around the ponds.

Great course but I did have difficulty finding teh way from hole to hole! More soigns are badlyneeded to get from one hole to the next one. I could find most of the holes but I had to wander around for the others.

The cooler weather had everyone out to play. The course was well maintained and beautiful. The starter cart was very friendly and helpful. The course had a good mix of par 3 holes! The water was fun but claimed quite a few of my balls. Overall, fun beautiful course. We will definitely be back!

Practice facilities could offer more targets, especially for the short game- 50-120 yards.

The course was in excellent condition and people were friendly. I will definitely return to play more.
