Hole 18's View from Green Photo submitted by PulsarX on 02/10/2018
Great Layout
Course is slowly coming around, but evidence of the Deep Freeze of February is still showing on the new greens. The course does have drainage issues on several holes, but it is still a fun layout. It’s a fun course to play with a great staff. Burgers are amazing!!
Such a shame
This could be a Texas treasure. First of all there is zero coordination, no starter, just get in line and wait. Second problem is you have no idea where to go, especially in hole number 12. Thank god for nice folks behind us and following folks in front.
Water is a huge problem. You hit a great tee shot and it plugs in a grass puddle. 15-17 are amazing holes.
The trash in creeks and all the marshlands is an embarrassment. The greens are bumpy and slow.
This course needs a new superintendent and club manager!!!!
Nice Municipal Course
I really enjoy playing this course. There's surprisingly quite a few water hazards to contend with but a fun course nonetheless.
Nice course but
It was a nice golf course with fairways and greens. The guy who signed us in was great and marshal, but some of the others were not. Coming from Georgetown, disappointed with some attitudes of other players. I guess they thought they were in the pro circuit.
Sun, fun and back on the course
Fun round of golf. Greens were a bit inconsistent between the front nine and the back nine but fun nonetheless.
Good greens and great use of water
Sammons GC is a beautiful and sprawling property. Wide fairways and a links layout make it a forgiving course for beginners. Water plays a role on almost half the holes but a couple of short par 4s give you a chance to score. It was rainy but the greens held up very well. I will be back.
First time at Sammons...
Nice public course, easy to find of off I-35 in Temple. Course condition was pretty good, although the greens could use some work - grass was patchy in several spots. Course layout provided plenty of challenge, with multiple water features to play over. Mix of long vs. short holes was nice. In-cart GPS system gave good views for each hole. Consistent with comments others have left, we had some difficulty finding our way from the green to the next tee on a couple of holes. The GPS system helped some, but also gave confusing messages. I’d like to see more simple old school signs - “12th tee this way ->”. Staff was friendly and helpful. Absolutely would play this course again - overall a good value.
Poor Condition of the Greens
The greens are in very bad shape for mid April. I understand that the winter was not easy for the course, but the greens haven't been cut and rolled, they are in very bad condition with weeds growing in the greens. I won't play here again until the city gets the course back to a playable condition.
The only issue...
The only complaint I have is with "Golf Pass" booking website, they have screw it up so badly that it has become impossible to use in any functional way, I now have to call the course and make verbal tee times.
Also, the constant spamming of my email to rate/review the course...since booking a tee time online has become more difficult than calling, I am hoping this is the very last unsolicited spam email I will ever recieved.
