The only issue...
The only complaint I have is with "Golf Pass" booking website, they have screw it up so badly that it has become impossible to use in any functional way, I now have to call the course and make verbal tee times.
Also, the constant spamming of my email to rate/review the course...since booking a tee time online has become more difficult than calling, I am hoping this is the very last unsolicited spam email I will ever recieved.
GPS on carts
Please have the holes marked "cartpath only" and/or have the GPS alert you to that BEFORE you drive out on the fairway of a "cartpath only" hole. It seems simple to do - signs or electronics. We have a rover on Mars sending sample data back to earth . . .
Had to cancel
I ended up canceling the tee time due to an emergency. I like the course because I’ve played it a number of times already.
Good but could be great
Course is average of what you would find for a city course. Could be a great course with some work. #1 fairway needs leveling out. Very lumpy. You can hit a nice drive down the middle and your ball ends up in hole or on top of a mound. Clean trash out from around the edges of the lake and creeks, cut down dead trees, remove large stumps that havebeen there for a long time. Clean up and landscape #11. A little work on that ditch and it would be a pretty hole. A nice fence along the west side of the course from Adams Ave to the RXR so you dont have to look into people's yard. Repair and maybe reroute some of the cart paths and clean up the junkyard behind the fence at #5 tee box. I know its a lot but a little a a time would make a big difference.
Signage
Play the course for the first time and I would said for the biggest issue I had was the lack of signs to let you know where to go and to clearly mark tee boxes. By asking around to other golfers playing, I realized I was not the only one with the same issue. The layout of the course is fine but needs to create signs to let us know where to go after each hole specially when you are not familiar with the course. Otherwise a decent experience with staff and amenities.
What a mess of a course with no signage
If we didn’t play with someone who’s played there before we’d still be riding around trying to find the next hole. We drove the wrong way several times because there was ZERO signage to guide you. How could anyone find their way around this place?! What a mess. On top of that it was in terrible shape. I get it’s winter but still a complete mess. Tee boxes were literally just dirt. No grass anywhere. Just a miserable experience. I would not recommend this course.
Good winter golf
We had a great time. COVID ducks, and this is a great escape. The course greens are well maintained. They are fast and true.
Fun Day on the Sammons Links
I play here regularly and the staff have done a great job improving the course and driving range. The new greens are amazing, dormant and fast as I’ve ever seen them, but you can still stop a well struck ball on them. I always enjoy this course because I get to use nearly every club in the bag. The change in elevation and distinctive styles of designs on the front versus back side (and water in play on 14 holes) really keeps it interesting no matter the wind direction. Defense a Target Golf style course.
