The course is not in great condition .
Greens were dry and very bobbly need rolling and watering .
Fairways were bare patchy and need reseeding .We had a society in front of us and teed off 340 mins late but once out on the course had no hold ups .
Poor from a old favourite
Winter Matts on every hole 3 holes with ground under repair no staff on hand just a very poor show I know it’s between Christmas and new year but it’s a Sunday and people play golf
Then you have the lack of marshalling and etiquette of the players it was horrendous now unfortunately that can happen anywhere but it just added to a course that and club that’s crying out for change
Great Course
Great course but not in best condition at the moment. Grass cut too short on fairways and your hitting from mud a lot of the time. Greens very bobbly and not great.
Lovely scenery with wild deer running around.
Clubhouse staff are friendly and some members too.
Local little gem - friendly staff
Played this course today with a friend (December 2025). We found it to be a nice, challenging course, whilst also being fun. Has quite wide open fairways in quite a few places. A good mix of par 3, 4, 5s. In winter we were playing off winter Tees which is fine. Ground was muddy but not waterlogged at all. Greens were in excellent condition! Pace of play was quite slow and we weren't offered to play through until the 18th resulting in a 5 hour round. Parking can be a nightmare here. Genuinely I don't think there's enough spaces for the tee times. I got parked today but on a Saturday I've genuinely struggled when I came a few years back. Staff in the clubhouse though are very friendly and i get the feeling the members aren't stuck up. Food in the clubhouse was also very nice and food and drink well priced. Will be returning.
It's a nice course, good long holes to test your ability.
Think they should vet certain people that turn up, there was 3 Chinese people playing 2 males 1 female, one set of clubs between them, not playing the holes in sequence because they was lost. We was playing up the 16th they were playing across from the tee on our left and to the hole on our right across our fairway which is so dangerous. Should have someone on a buggy just checking out on the course that people are adhering to the rules, apart from that had a great day's golf.
Great course for value
I’ve played Maylands a few times now over the past 2 years and I’ve never had a bad round, this weekend was a bit slower due to a championship taking place, but staff are always friendly the course is well maintained and a lovely practice area before you start.
How the mighty fall
Shocked to see the condition of a course that a few years prior was in tip top condition, look so in need of help. Rock hard fairways with hardly and grass, cracked greens and bunkers with not enough sand.
Lots of work going on so i will check back next summer .
Really nice course
Really nice course, with some great features and tricky holes. Watch out for the dears
Punishing winds on a challenging course
I booked a 09:45 tee off a week ago unbeknownst that I’d be playing 45mph gale force winds! As a player still shaking the rust off after a long time away, I probably bit off more than I could chew with this challenging course today. What I loved:
Some beautiful wide fairways that can be forgiving for the lower handicapper
Some stunning elevated tee positions playing down into valleys
Wild deer walking the course made me feel at one with nature
I love that trolleys are provided which spared me carrying my bag
What I didn’t like:
That I played hole 6 and then hole 14 next to it by accident thinking it was 7. Poor signposting led me playing behind a party of 3 that had previously been behind me.
There’s a lot of rolling par 4s which for the high handicapper will end up being a struggle.
Old boys might need a buggy as it’s very hilly but I loved the terrain personally.
There was a lot of debris on the greens but hard to legislate for given the winds.
All in all, one I’d love to revisit perhaps when it’s not a hurricane!
Course condition
The course is a good layout but the greens and tees need watering as it was hard as a rock, its a shame.
Nice find
Nice course, In good condition despite the lack of rain. Good challenge, and pace of play was reasonable despite the course being quite busy. Well worth a visit if you can.
Great course
Great course. Buggies need a lot of work and the pro shop has little within it. Depends what you want from what is open to non members. Bar staff were great.
Very Good Value and Pleasant Course
Very good value for the online booking rate. Course in good condition considering the lack of rain. Always plays tougher than the rating with some challenging holes.
Greenkeeping staff friendly and good bar and food at reasonable prices with pleasant staff.
Not great
Fairways wasn't great hardly any grass on them and the greens wasn't that good for this time of year unfortunates course is no where near as good as it used to be a few years back played worse for sure but disappointed to see it like that oh yeah and over half the bunkers were unplayable full of stones and cheap sand they are upgrading them but they need time to get them sorted
Good course in great location
This has always been a course I've wondered about playing at having driven past it going around the M25 many times and it certainly won't be the last time I visit. For £20 twilight tee off I felt the price reflected the course conditions which felt as though were going through a fairly large transformation especially on the first 6 or 7 holes. Some of the latter holes were very nice and if you don't mind the wildlife the large volume of deer felt quite special. Overall a very good round.
A traditional golf club with a friendly feel
This is a traditional golf club with a varied layout and some great holes. The front nine is a bit of work in progress with some new design and works ongoing but once past hole 5, all is good. The wild roaming deer an added bonus.
