About
Joe Finger laid the Bayou out in the 1970s. The links-style course he carved out of the 200 acres along Moses Bayou has plenty of water and elevated tees and greens. The Galveston Bay winds affect this open course, so the 6,665-yard, par 72 plays significantly longer. Every par 5 is over 500 yards, and four of the par 4s are over 400 yards.
On the front, the long par 4 No. 6 is tough because the approach must carry the bayou to a tiny green. And No. 10 involves a lake off the tee and on the approach.
The back is what really tears into the soul of a golfer, though, presenting a 580-yard double dogleg on No. 15 followed just a short while later by the ridiculous 475-yard par 4 17th. This hole is lined on the left by old Moses, and water hazards creep into the fairway. The inevitably long approach goes into an elevated green guarded by water.
Getting there : From Hwy. 146 south, turn right on Loop 197, and head over to Ted Dudley Dr. Turn right, and the course is on the right side of the street.

Winter golf
Course was in usual winter condition. Some fairways were pretty bare, but mostly on the front nine. The tide plays havoc on the fairways on 1, 3, 4, & 7. Back nine has better fairways. The greens were in full winter mode. They rolled fairly well and definitely fast, especially on side hill or downhill lies.
Needs some tlc
Not a bad layout but conditions are very poor. Fairways were very wet when we found grass. Lots of areas were just mud. Greens were all top dressed with sand when we played.
We played as a twosome but we encountered at least 3 singles along our way. Too bad there was no starter to pair up groups.

I only paid $8
So, I only paid $8 through GolfNow with a $10 off coupon. Let's just say the course wasn't what I expected from the photos. Play here if you have to. Fairways were rough. Mosquitoes were killer. I left after 9. Figured I got my money's worth at $1/hole.

This golf course was in really good shape especially since it rained earlier in the day.. good drainage and well taken care of course for the price..

Very dry, hard and bumpy fairways, small greens. Driving range was almost all sand
