Full sized crazy golf

Half way round this quirky course it dawned on me I was playing full size crazy golf and despite it being November the course was in lovely condition. Watch out for dog walkers and ramblers on your way round, they were all very pleasant just they can appear from out of nowhere because of the nature of the terrain.

Saturday morning golf

Very lucky with the weather, warm sunny November day. A very friendly welcome at the club shop and no pressure on the first team. Thankfully we were let through a four ball who were having a break from the racing at Cheltenham. After that very good pace of play. Lots of steep climbs, shared fairways, blind shots and members of the public enjoying the wonderful views. Course condition was reasonable for the time of year. Great catering in the clubhouse. Overall very quirky golf course that I felt very fortunate to be able to play on a Saturday morning prime time. The cost was fantastic which made paying for my two sons a big help.

Golf at Painswick

What a wonderful and difficult short course with plenty of hazards but the views from the top were spectacular. Due to the amount of rain of late all T’s were temporary which is unfortunate.. We did experience a lot of dog walkers and hikers and not all were considerate for us playing on the course and we even had marauding cattle running across us at one point. There was no cafe/bar facilities at the club house save for a coffee machine which was the only real negative. Will definitely back to play again.

Different

Very slow pace of play due to blind shots, fairways crossing, walkers wandering over the fairway, cyclists, horse riders etc.

Greens were slow and need attention, probably what was expected for the price paid but wouldn't return in a hurry, certainly not at the weekend with all the walkers about.

Stunning views and small greens

It’s quite the trek to get to the course but once there you have little idea what type of course awaits you.

The first few holes are all uphill and lead to the much celebrated and impressive par 3 6th hole, high and exposed this 220yd hole with little bail out area is a gem. The views are 360 degrees and take your breath away (not an exaggeration). Especially if you live in a city.

I was invited to play with a local member and we had a friendly and competitive match.

I would highly recommend this course for any one, even the big hitters who would be well advised to leave the driver in the car.

The only down points were the condition of the tees and greens. But I hear it’s only one green keeper.

A lovely day out and very enjoyable.

God awful greens

Common land so you expect some delay due to walkers. However. Greens were just awful, some fast some slow. A level of consistency would be nice!!!!!

Lovely interesting course requiring accuracy

Painswick is supposedly the easiest Course in England, but it my no means easy at all as it is tight and requires accuracy off the tee at all times. It is not a course you can simply drive. It's also not a long course, but when you walk it, it feels long enough. That said the views of the Cotswolds and over cheltenham are outstanding. If you've never played a common land hilly course, then this one is as quirky as they come. Worth a trip just to try it.

Rough course

Poor maintenance greens, very rocky paths between holes. My playing partner trolley broken apart due to bad condition paths. Not recommended use trolley best carry bag around course. Would play again in cooler conditions after green grass grown back!!

A quirky course

This is a quirky course, imagine a links course on top of a hill that looks as though it has been mined. Definitely a challenge and a course kind would help given the number of blind tee shots (above 6 depending on how long you drive). Even so it was definitely a fair test of a game.

The greens and teeing areas were in desperate need of water. The greens in particular were a bit random at time.

Fun course, something different

Really fun course, and quite unique in these parts.Felt like playing a links course. Its short but its definitely not boring, and a certain level of forgiveness, although general conditions had the fairways playing very quick. Greens were ok, not amazing and a little variable - but didnt make us enjoy the round any less

A gem

A gem of a course. Don’t let the par 67 or reviews which says it’s easy it’s not. It makes you think and is a beautiful course which you’ll need all the clubs in your bag to complete. The staff are very welcoming as are the members and we had a great chat in the bar with members who didn’t treat us as outsiders or intruders. Value for money and sheer enjoyment it’s worth the journey and the punt of playing a new course.
