Waxahachie Golf Club
About
The Waxahachie Golf Club plays to a par 70, 6,156 yards from the tips, and is famous for its blind doglegs and hilly terrain. The design incorporates a good combination of golf holes, both long and short par 4s, and especially the solid par 5s that all play over 500 yards from the tips. The opening hole is one of the easiest–a short par 3 that is one of the better ways to start a round. But the next hole is the number one handicap, a 513-yard par 5.
Getting there : From I-35 south, take the Business 287 exit and turn left. Drive a short distance to the course, and look for the entrance on the left side of the street.

The worst course I have ever been to
I played this course in April. Back then I thought, how could this course get worse? Well it did. A lot worse. The front 9 had 3 temporary greens. So 3 greens had completely gone to crap in 3 months. In fact, all the other 15 greens are in worse shape than 3 months ago.
I’ve attached pictures of the greens and the fairway. There is more sand and weeds on the greens than actual grass. For the fairways, good luck finding an actual good patch of grass to hit from. The ground is extremely hard.
No cart girls (lol). Speaking of carts, the ones here are gas and have been beat to death. The steering and suspension are super loose and don’t track straight.
There is no range, but there is a very small practice green. Staff is friendly. There was a Marshall out riding around. There was water spraying from two of the sprinklers at 1130, so the nearby tee box was soaked.
Overall I cannot recommend this course. It’s in extremely rough shape. I paid $24 for a hot deal. Even for the price and the closeness to my house, I still can’t recommend this place. It’s a shame though, this course could be really good. It just needs a multi million dollar makeover and employees that actually care about it.
Poorly maintained and managed
This course was not good. The greens where weeds and stand except for 3 of them. Layout is not very good. There are no bunkers on the course. No range or practice greens. No ice chest on the carts and you’re not allowed to bring your own water. There was only 2 water fill up stations and no water in any of the ball cleaners.
Good for practice
This course is good for getting a cheap practice round in. Unfortunately the greens are very poor, and the quality is very sub par. That being said the staff is extremely friendly and makes sure to take care of you. The course could be improved significantly, but it is a great course for grabbing an affordability priced round to get some live swings.
NEVER AGAIN!,
They don’t start mowing greens until u show up to play!! I don’t understand …. All the other courses I have ever played. Had the greens mowed and holes mowed before 7 am! I would love the job of the grounds keeper here! Get payed for 40 hrs and work 25 -30 hrs !! Don’t show up till 930 am. Then start mowing
This place needs new management!!!
Cant eat breakfast cuz no cook till 730 am.
Greens suck.
I use to play 3 + times a week ….NEVER AGAIN
Spend your $$ else where
Won’t play again
The greens are worse than the parking lot! They punched the front . Front is closed back 9 greens are dirt! They don’t mow the fairways or what grass if any on the greens
Not worth 26$
Waxahachie G C
The pro shop guy is GREAT! (Terry)
The course is in terrable shape! Couldn’t find 2 drives down the middle cuz the weeds are over a ft tall!
Greens are worse than the parking lot! NO GRASS AND WHERE THEY WERNT MOWED IN OVER A WEEK!!
They don’t blow the tree bark or leaves off the greens. Fair ways haven’t been mowed in the past week.
The winter rye dyed off the greens and now just dirt!!
If you have a 715 tee time you better bring something to eat cuz they don’t cook in the morning till 730 -745 ish when ever the cook shows up !,
I will NEVER PLAY THERE AGAIN! Not worth 26 $
Course
I’ve been golfing here for many years. The past year, I’ve seen a lot of improvements with the quality of the greens.
Great little track
I've been playing this course a couple times a month as it's 5min away from the house. Every year it's getting better. This year being no exception. Greens are almost fully grown back in, fairways comin along nicely. Teeboxes still a bit unkept. All in all a great value. Don't go to neighboring courses and putt the same though bc your ball will be 10ft past on a flat lie. They're are roots rocks and dirt under trees but most all muni's are like that. Clubhouse and pool area needs updating but until then enjoy the low cost. Staff couldn't be nicer. Miss the lake range where you actually hit ur balls into the water@ floating targets but I'm sure was a headache to retrieve the floating balls, so I understand. Kudos gents keep up the good work
Course Marshall is awful
Had an 8:40 tee time. From the first hole the Marshall was a problem. We teed off the tips and as soon as we finished hole 1 (which is a par 3) he drives over to us and suggests that we play the women’s tees. Talk about getting off on the wrong foot. We took 7 minutes to play the hole and they schedule tees 10 apart so it wasn’t for pace of play. Regardless, we played the reds on 2&3 to put some distance between us and the group behind. When we got to the third tees he drove over and told us to split the group up for pace of play. We were still playing quickly, but we split the group in half, and he still wouldn’t leave us alone. As it turned out, we realized he was PLAYING in the group behind us and power-tripping us the whole time for his own convenience.
I sincerely did not appreciate being rushed through our round and I didn’t appreciate the condescending attitude of the marshal. This guy needs to get power checked. Hope that something can be done about this.
On a different note, the guy who checked us in was wonderful and very accommodating and the kitchen staff was very kind. The course was in great condition and most of the greens were great.
Not family friendly
$10 on top of my already paid for tee time just for my 4yo to ride along. Did I not already pay for the WHOLE CART when I reserved my tee time. Ridiculous!
Good for the Price
First off, this is the best the greens have ever looked in the three years I have played here. They are soft and slow. Your ball will actually make a mark on the greens this year. Usually, I play once in the spring and don’t come back until following year to see if it has gotten better. Well, his year it has. So much so that have played here twice in a week! I like the layout, it’s fun but don’t expect it to be challenging. Fairways are hard and not much to desire but they are playable. Plus, I have played two rounds of golf for a little of $50 bucks!!!!
We like it!
My wife and I have been playing this course since November of last year. I am very happy how well the fairways have filled in with spring rains. They seem to take care of this course well enough. M
Great Bang for the Buck
Great for new golfers or those who don’t take the game seriously. The afternoon proshop gentleman is fantastic the one in the morning tends to be a little crabby. The greens are what fairways should look like, and the fairways are what the 1st cut should be at most courses. Great layout, decent pace of play, great value.
Extremely Poor Customer Service
I will definitely not be visiting this golf course again. It seems like the staff here has extremely strict rules so please be aware! This course really should consider placing more signs up for golfers regarding where to park and drive golf carts. The staff was very rude and always seemed to approach me with an issue of where I parked and drove the golf cart. I’ve never experienced anything like this before. Hopefully they improve in time for future golfers visiting the course. Good luck…
It’s good for the money!
Greens seemed to be in rougher shape than just a few weeks ago.
Early Spring in TX
Rough course conditions as Spring has come early in TX. Bare fairways, greens with areas of no grass, tee boxes hard as a rock...all this means there has been no watering...strange because catch ponds are full. Pace was poor as beginners all over course, no Marshall.
Staff friendly was a bright spot.
