Hugely improved course
Priors Hall has always had a good layout and potential but it’s great to see it in such good condition. The greens are now smooth and fair paced, bunkers still a little firm (it looks like they are being re-sanded over time and the fairways are in good condition. It was great to see the course busy, every tee was booked as you’d expect on a Sunday morning but pace of play was still fair, 4 hours to get round, I look forward to playing here again now.
Don't Judge a Book By It’s Cover
A drive up a leafy road (beware camouflaged speed humps!) lead to a less than impressive looking Clubhouse (looking like a 1960s built local Govt office) A friendly welcome in the Pro Shop and a smile in the bar where we ordered coffee.
First hole from a very elevated tee, had us wondering whether we should have hired a buggy, however, other than 1 and 18 there were only gentle changes in elevation.
Fairways in good condition, greens good and true if a little slow. The only course issue we had was with the bunkers which those who had gone in before us hadn't bothered to rake.
Pace of play ok, until we caught up with the 4 ball in front of us who were grinding to a halt in 30 degree heat. From the 8th onwards we waited on every shot, made worse by their disregard of the bell ringing decorum on a few blind tee shots. Calling us through on the 18th was perhaps the most galling about their inconsiderate behaviour.
A huge construction project butting on the course over 3 holes spoiled the lovely surroundings for a short while.
Good course, well kept, yellow tees are generally friendly, white make it far more of a challenge. Bunkering quite cleverly places on fairway landing areas.
Superb value, recommended.
👍🏻👍🏻
Great round of golf. We’ve played here before and overall the conditions have improved each time. Well worth a visit
Good value
Paid £21 through Golf Now. Course was in good condition. You be hard pushed to find a better Public golf course. Some interesting holes and quiet and peaceful tree lined fairways.
Mid -week gamr
Love the course but as a lady can be difficult as no halfway house and on the course ( large hill to walk up on the 8/9th if you want to get back to the club house) not a quick nip in and out. Did play before and there was a porta loo on the 9th ( I’m assuming maybe for a competition. But felt that made a huge difference and was definitely an improvement. This definitely puts me off playing this particular course.
Lovely layout, great features
Nice course with some great features.
Mind you this time of the year i was expecting short cut fairways, colourful greens and flat tee boxes.. Not a reality unfortunately, fairway grass was still very long making tracking yout ball extremley difficult.
Tee boxes uneven and it seems not even club members know how to repair divots here. Greens require scarifing and a roll.. however found them playable.
The course itself was a nice challenge and change from my normal haunt. Almost all of the tee boxes open up to invite you to launch out however you can get caught out if you fail to layup on a few.
Staff were friendly and accomodating.
The 19th was well presented and fairly priced also.
Forgot
Hadn’t played the course for over 30 years! Had forgotten how good it was. Good variety of holes in very pleasant surroundings. Paid £21 which is great value for money. The only downside is parking which is limited near the clubhouse.
How can you complain for less than £20 a round?
Ok the course isn’t perfect and sometimes you can get caught behind some muppets who won’t let you play through for whatever reason they deem fit,, but…. For less than £20 a round how can anyone complain ??
It’s a good track with a bit of everything to test your game. I would highly recommend Priors !
Very nice
The course was very nice, great layout.
The weather was very cold, the greens was so hard you can bounce your ball on it, but was expected for this time of year. Will definitely be back in the summer
Great course👌🏻
Played here as a solo, Perfect course for all players. Easy layout and find your way around.
Staff were more than helpful! Perfect coffee to start the round and off I went. Few spots still wet but it's winter golf and every course is like still. Greens still very good such a good mix of holes.
