Oundle Golf Club

A fairly decent course on the whole, except for holes 12 & 13, feel a bit strange compared to the rest of the course, a couple of difficult par 5s and some very testing par 4s.

The let down is monday when I first came to scout, the clubhouse bar was shut at 3pm, and on Wednesday when I played the pro shop was shut by the time I finished, I collect ball markers with the courses I've played so didnt have the chance to see if this was available. Must also say, ball retrievers near some of the water hazards are a very nice touch.

I dont live in the area but considering how few and far between courses in the area are, I'd be lying if I didn't expect them to be a bit more encouraging to have a coffee/pint after your round.

Overall: Good round of golf, crossovers are well spaced so you can see who's coming, so safety wise big plus there, not in amazing condition, but still a nice challenge. I would recommend for a quiet single golfer looking to get a round in below 3 hours, but the golfing atmosphere and community. Unfortunately just isn't there at this club.

Something a little bit different from what we’ve played locally before and the rolling terrain made for some interesting holes. Really enjoyable, not overly busy with decent pace of play. Course condition was great and will only improve with a bit of rain.

Excellent greens, really unique layout that forces you to think and shot shape. Unfortunately ruined slightly by terrible slow play. Group of 6 across two 3 balls not allowing people through ruined the experience, even suggesting we (a 2 ball) skip holes to overtake them. A real shame.

Course was very nice, definitely worth the money, only downfall was two tee boxes were under repair and there was a random old green hole left unfilled which my ball went in 😂🙈

Tricky and challenging course which made you really think about each shot, with some very different holes. The course and surrounding area was lovely and was actually in very good condition for the time of year with no boggy spots at all. However paying full price at £38 for a course with 9 winter greens i thought was a bit of a joke. Its not the end of the world there being winter greens but reduce the price to reflect this.

Also the scorecard definitely needs a map as there is a few fairways that cross over eachother with no signage of where the next tee is after finishing on the green, i had to ask someone three times where the next tee box was.

Overall the course was ok.

Winter mats very poor, Just thrown on the tee box so ball falls off the tee in your back swing.

Pace of play very slow, Lots of ground staff out on course who even joked how slow it is.

With these issues in mind we were told when we checked in that the gate would be locked at 4pm! No way we were going to get round in sub 4 hours would have been nearer 5 so had to skip multiple holes to avoid sleeping in the car.

£35 steep for average course on a Monday when you can’t even complete 18 holes so keep in mind before booking.

No chance of food and drink after or during as all about locking up and going home early.

Great features some tigut holes that require thought

Second time playing Oundle and found it a fun and challenging round of golf both times. Unfortunately this time we were stuck behind a very slow group who did not offer to let us through and so the pace of play was extremely slow. Thankfully they left after 14 holes so we were able to just fit the 18 holes we paid for before sunset!

Nice golf course in a beautiful location, not too hilly but would recommend a trolley or buggy. Make sure you practice a low stinger as theirs plenty of trees lining most of the fairways, some nice dog leg's to navigate and a few long par 4s that test your second shot. Most of the course was in good condition, greens were good. Staff were friendly. Great day out ! Thank-you.

This is only the second time I’ve played this course. It has quite a quirky layout and some steep, challenging slopes in places as well as at least one shared green. It is fun to play and very local to me. Unfortunately this time playing there were three elderly gentleman in front of me, one of whom was using a buggy. I hit my driver around 220 yards. They were taking three shots to reach this distance and at least two balls were getting lost. It’s the slowest round of golf I have ever played and I had to finish after nine holes otherwise I would have been late picking up my children. The week before was perfect. No issues with pace of play so I think I was just unlucky.

Fourth time here, lovely weather. Fairways 8/10, Greens 10/10.

Best course around here. Everyone is really friendly, course is in top condition. Worth every penny.
