Great Course
Second time playing Oundle and found it a fun and challenging round of golf both times. Unfortunately this time we were stuck behind a very slow group who did not offer to let us through and so the pace of play was extremely slow. Thankfully they left after 14 holes so we were able to just fit the 18 holes we paid for before sunset!
Oundle 18 holes
Nice golf course in a beautiful location, not too hilly but would recommend a trolley or buggy. Make sure you practice a low stinger as theirs plenty of trees lining most of the fairways, some nice dog leg's to navigate and a few long par 4s that test your second shot. Most of the course was in good condition, greens were good. Staff were friendly. Great day out ! Thank-you.
Fun, challenging course
This is only the second time I’ve played this course. It has quite a quirky layout and some steep, challenging slopes in places as well as at least one shared green. It is fun to play and very local to me. Unfortunately this time playing there were three elderly gentleman in front of me, one of whom was using a buggy. I hit my driver around 220 yards. They were taking three shots to reach this distance and at least two balls were getting lost. It’s the slowest round of golf I have ever played and I had to finish after nine holes otherwise I would have been late picking up my children. The week before was perfect. No issues with pace of play so I think I was just unlucky.
A nice challenge
Fourth time here, lovely weather. Fairways 8/10, Greens 10/10.
Some challenges for an average golfer, give it a try
Fantastic Course
Best course around here. Everyone is really friendly, course is in top condition. Worth every penny.
Oundle GC
Nice course and apparently have a new green keeper and course was in great condition and a great price and pretty quiet late afternoon.
Confusing Layout
Some of the greens are shared and you have to share tee boxes with other players playing different holes - a bit frustrating! There are a few holes where you have to give priority to other players, which adds complexity to the game. There was no half way house and there was not much choice for food in the bar. Disappointing. However, the course was in great condition and the staff were very friendly and welcoming!
Lovely course, really interesting
Lovely condition course with really challenging layout and loads of unique and interesting holes. Holes where you can’t see the green and each one felt like it’s own challenge. Really loved it
Long but confusing layout
I have played here on the odd occasion but it’s abit confusing as shared greens , cross over holes. Having to give priority to other’s teeing off but don’t allow the others tee opposite to tee off after. The tee does explain the rules but needs the opposite to oblige afterwards. Long holes but good also greens kept in fine condition.. Good for your game and GolfNow value for money.
quality
a friendly welcome followed by a very challenging 18 holes. the course was in fabulous condition especially for the weather recently.
the green keepers are to be commended as the greens were in amazing condition.
i’ll be back
Quirky Course, Staff Let Down
Played the course over a year ago and remember it being fun and quirky. Had great fun meeting some fellow golfers who we got paired with through golf now. Was really let down by the staff in the pro shop. Had an open chat with them before starting the round, state of the course, and at no point did they offer or advise about the 8 temporary greens in action on the day. Really spoiled the day for us. Don’t mind temp greens but when you drive a par 4 in one only to realise a temp green is in play out of sight from the tee. Really annoying. Advise to ask directly before booking as has put me off playing the course again.
Mixed Open Competition
We entered an Open mixed comp here again as we had previously played one before.. We arrived and went into the club house and were met with very friendly faces, we ordered a bacon roll with Tea , this arrived and was delicious we ate outside over looking the course ( wonderful view).
Everyone we encountered were very friendly and helpful, we started on the first hole and then proceeded to play the round, the course is in fantastic condition with really well kept and pacey greens I would hazard to say the best kept course in the area.
A really lovely course with quirky holes and layout, immaturely kept so hats off to the green keepers. I would highly recommend playing Oundle to anyone., lovely members the ladies at the half way gut could not do enough for us , cakes and refreshments were lovely. We will certainly be coming back.
Nice Round
Staff member in the shop was very helpful. Course was in good condition. Weather was overcast and a strong wind on the day. Greens were true and reasonably paced. Holes 11, 12 , 13 & 14 are a nightmare trying to figure out who has priority for visitors.
