Value, Pace of play, over booking
Very disappointed with this course. I feel the club has been greedy & over booked the course. Memebers told us that there were 2 societies out on this day. The pace of play was ridiculously slow taking over 4 1/4 hours to complete 15 holes to a point where we walked off of the course as we were cold & the light was failing. Had 2 groups in front of us not walked off then the time taken would have been longer, but this did not affect them financially as they were members. Ironically we actually paid more to go out as a 2 ball. We could not even complain on the day as we were so late off of the course that the pro shop was shut. I cannot even rate the facilities as we did not have time to stop. All in all very disappointed with the experience & feel we should have been made aware that the course would be exceptionally busy to give us the option of not playing & a potential refund.
Perfect Day's Golf at an Excellent Club
Played 18 holes at Pyecombe and had a fantastic round. Perfect conditions, sunny and hardly any wind. I play once or twice a year and my partner and I are roughly intermediate level.
The course was fantastic, we love it!!! The T's were in excellent condition, the fairways also in great condition, the greens were fabulous. The course had forgiving rough which makes a huge difference to a player like me, you have a fighting chance of finding your ball which helps with keeping up with the play speed.
I was told by the very friendly pro that the course is quite up and down so might be worth hiring an electric buggy, £10 each. The course is up and down but as each hole was a joy to play this was not an issue at all, it added to the course's character. We met some members and they were super friendly both on and off the course. We had a four ball behind us who were all excellent players and a two ball in front of us so we were conscious of keeping up with the play speed so we needed to move on at a good clip. I guess understanding this pace comes with playing more than two or threes times a year. I think we did pretty well. Everyone out on the course was super and friendly.
We had something to eat before we tee'd off, lovely food and great prices and had a beer when we got back. Will defiantly be going back for a second round.
Thank you Pyecombe Gold Club for such a great day out.
Amazing views
Great golf course, interesting holes, tests club selection, superb greens, had an afternoon round, did not have to wait on any shot. Friendly pro shop and bar area. Will definitely play again.
Best course around Brighton
Stunning views everywhere, tough course but fair with amazing visuals on many tees.
Be ready for a few steep climbs (electric trolley preferably) but it’s worth it.
Tough physically, especially the front nine.
Very friendly people and good choice of food at the clubhouse. Tough front nine with steep slopes, could be treacherous when wet. Enjoyed the course and great countryside.
Twilight round
Great Course, Lots of nice holes to attack. Course in very good condition especially greens. Nice pint served by friendly staff after the round.
Well presented course
We had a great day out at Pyecombe. The pro was friendly and welcoming, as were the bar staff.
The course was in fantastic condition, particularly the greens which ran true.
Would recommend
Pyecombe
Quite hilly course so great cardio workout starting with 1st hole which goes sharply uphill. On the day it was quite windy which made it challenging. Faiways and greens in very good condition. Friendly members. Overall a lovely club.
Tough but fun course
When the wind is up at Pyecombe then the difficulty factor goes up a couple of notches. It's very hilly and no two holes are the same. It starts with a short par 4 uphill just to get the lungs working properly. We have blind drives on a couple of holes, hitting across a valley, hitting into a valley- overall it has a Scottish borders feel to the course.
The greens were in fantastic condition - as good as some clubs have in the summer.
Outstanding day at a beautiful down land course in beautiful condition
The course was in beautiful condition and we loved playing it .
Excellent
The course is in great condition and has fantastic views of the Downs
Great days golf
First time at this course today. Staff were great dealing with the covid situation and very helpful and friendly. The course was in very good condition and the greens were a delight to putt on. Though didn’t improve my putting ability :).
I would highly recommend you go and play this course. Be advised being a downs course it’s very hilly so would recommend a powered trolley .
Will be returning soon for another bash.
Take a trolley!
I enjoyed playing Pyecombe for the first time pro shop was really informative and helpful great experience. The course was in really good condition considering it’s a done land course and the lack of rain we’ve had.
The course was obviously very hilly be prepared. A few challenging holes fairly open and a fairly testing course.
Very impressed
Beautiful scenery and a relatively short but challenging course. It was made nearly impossible by the incredibly strong winds but you can’t blame the course for that! They’re also heavily top dressed The greens which made putting a bit of a lottery bit I accept this has to be done periodically. Will definitely return when the weather is better.
Great course
First time we have played at Pyecombe a very good course well looked after and very scenic, will be back to play there again soon
