A huge pond looms large over much of hole fifteen. On the approach lies a landing zone, however, for those who want to run the ball onto the green. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/11/2024

Nice Track in the middle of nowhere
I was in CT on a trip and found a great deal. They have an excellent warm up area! Putting green, range , deep pratice bunkers, and chipping green. A very fun track with some very interesting holes. Not too long even from the tips(not that I play the tips), gravel cart paths, well taken care of IMO based on how nice the bunkers and greens were kept

Pace of play
Pace of play was very slow, there was a Marshall out but didn’t seem to be doing much. Our round was 5 hours, others were saying there’s was 5 1/2 hours.

5 & 1/2 hours! What was the ranger doing?
Tallwood is one of my favorite tracks east of the river. Unfortunately todays round was brutally slow, 2:45 on each 9. The ranger was present on the 1st tee, yet said nothing about expected pace of play. Saw him driving around 2 other times on the front 9 but pace of play did not improve throughout the round. Did not see him on the back at all. Just brutal.
Otherwise the condition of the greens was disappointing as they have not yet fully recovered from being aerated some 4 weeks ago. Few putts rolled true.
Can't recommend Tallwood for either a weekend or holiday round.

Lack of communication
Booked a 1:15pm round on a Saturday. Got there early to see if we could get out and low and behold, they planned a tournament at 1:00. Asked if the two of us could sneak off the back to no avail. It would have been nice to know this ahead of time, like the aeration alerts. Round took over 5 hours.

Good outing
Enjoyed it. Greens aerated not long ago so not sure how true they were. Approach shots with water around some greens were a little scary especially with high winds. Good overall experience. Will be back.

Interesting Track
Lots of sharp doglegs and water that can come into play. Greens are large but had just been aerated so tough to tell how they normally roll. Overall, a nice layout I'd like to play again when the greens are back.
Thanks so much for the great review, pgg1960. We look forward to welcoming you back to our course soon. Thanks for choosing Tallwood Country Club.
Green aeration
Greens aeration made them unplayable tee boxes in terrible shape and fairways have large areas of dirt

Slow Play
The course was in good shape but the play was slow because Management squeezed in additional players and allowed people to play the back first and then cut into the normal Tee Off times. Horrible thing to do. Also saw 3 people playing out of two bags.

Soggy walk
Was informed by the pro shop and GN that carts were not allowed due to previous rains. Called GN and they gave me 2 $20 rewards. Course was very wet and hard to walk. Greens were slow due to rain, and many areas were roped off.
