Lyman Orchards in Middlefield is a favorite spot for families because of the nearly 100 varieties of pick-your-own fruit, but it's popular with golfers as well, boasting both a Robert Trent Jones-designed course and one designed by Gary Player. There is also the Apple Nine Course. Situated along the banks of the Connecticut River, the orchards provide the perfect setting for a round of golf. The Jones Course has a diverse terrain, offering dramatically rolling hills on the front nine and a back nine that is routed through woodlands and wetlands. Water comes into play on a total of seven holes on the back and there are more than 40 bunkers strategically placed along the severely sloped greens. Accurate drives and irons will be generously rewarded but it's not overly punishing for high handicappers.

Red tees offer little advantage. Not a good couples track.

The course has not been updated to incorporate real ladies tees. I liked the course but my female friend who is an average player struggled with the distance from the red tees.

Good Course

The course has a good combination of easy, intermediate and hard holes. Played only the front 9 of Jones course since the back 9 was flooded. Good thing they let us out in the front 9 of the Player course.

Greens were over grown and very sandy

I booked 18 holes on Saturday, when I checked in on Sunday they stated the back 9 was unplayable. There should not be 18 holes tee times available if they course is not playable. Staff was freindly but getting ready for 18, only to be told the back 9 was closed leaves a bad taste in one's mouth.

Course in good shape/Good price

Course was in solid shape for early season golf round. Called ahead to be sure greens weren't being aerated. Usually over priced courses but found great deal on Golf Now. Staff is always friendly. Will check w/ Golf Now prior to booking any tee times in future for sure.

Over priced

The jones course is over priced. There are many other courses I would rather play in CT that are cheaper than this course including the players course which is a bit more challenging but scenic. Jones course is a "plain Jane" course in my eyes and is not worth $72 to play
