Cold Spring Country Club
About
Cold Spring Country Club is situated halfway between Springfield and Worcester. Opened in 2010 in an effort to bring world class golf to western Massachusetts, the club has since garnered a local following. The par-71 layout is unique in that it has six par 3s and five par 5s. There are also some par 4s in the 450-yard range. The 6,521-yard length indicated on the scorecard can be deceiving since it feels much longer when you're playing it. The golf course has plenty of variety, including dogleg lefts, doglegs rights, short holes, and long holes. Thanks to its mountaintop locale, Cold Spring C.C. offers stunning views that are as diverse as the holes. The vistas from the elevated tees and greens stretch to the Berkshires, Connecticut, and Vermont. From the golf course's highest tee box on the par-3 10th, you'll have a panoramic view of central Massachusetts.

The scenery is spectacularly panoramic at several of the Cold Spring tees and greens. This is the first hole, a par-three. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/05/2022

A terrific par-5 of 490, the second demands good shotmaking to find this green safely. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/05/2022

The long tenth, a par-4, features an offset fairway and a tough approach to an elevated green site. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/05/2022

A long par-5, eleven features strong ground movement from tee to green. A beautiful and challenging hole. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/05/2022

Although modern, the course maintains a natural feel. Secluded, too, on some holes, such as the sixteenth. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/05/2022

The course was beautiful as normal. A few tee boxes could use new sod. The fairways were dry for the most part and the greens fast. The staff was amazing as always and I can’t wait to enjoy breakfast at the course before I play starting soon. Thank you everyone for again a great experience!!
Plant and maintain the grass...
The entire front 9 is just a mix of weird hole layouts through steep terrain, it's just a slog. Couple that with literally no soft spots to hit the ball from in any fairway, it makes for a miserable experience. All the tee boxes are wasted, the fairways non-existent. The greens are ridiculously hard and fast. It was the middle of May, the grass should have been green and lush, instead it was spotty, full of weeds, and no attempt is being made to grow actual grass. When the golf now hot deal is only $28 for 18 w/cart, you don't feel so bad leaving after 9 holes, which is exactly what we did. Place will be closed in no time if they don't do something about the cow pasture it currently is.
Great course
Beautiful layout and nice conditions. The Pro was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. I would highly recommend this course! But make sure to take a cart it is very hilly
beautifully challenging
Course is in great shape. Beautiful course with great views. I really enjoyed my round here I will be back.
Cold Spring Country Club is a wonderful golf course. Always in great shape, and staff is friendly and profesional. It’s our (my husband’s and my) favorite golf course in Massachusetts!.
Excellent
We live 55 minutes away and love playing Cold Springs. Well maintained, friendly, challenging, an overall good time. I can’t wait until the restaurant and beverage cart are online and serving.
Good early New England spring conditions
Played the course several times already at the start of this golf season. Course was in very good shape although some areas are already starting to get dry so that teeing areas were getting baked. Pace of play remains an issue and we never see a ranger on the course urging players to keep pace. Friendly staff and interesting course with reasonable prices so we will continue to make the course one of our "regulars" in our rotation of courses to play in the area.
I really enjoy playing this course. It’s always easy to get on and I’ve never had issues with the pace of play. Just wish they would get their kitchen/bar open!!
Worst Experience in 25+ years playing golf
Booked a tee time several days in advance, checked in and was sent to the 1st tee. I was there on time and at the tee before my tee time. The threesome I was supposed to be paired up with was already on the 1st green as a foursome. The guy in the shop who sold my spot minutes before and the starter claimed to have no idea where the 4th came from. The starter then went on about the pace of play as if I was going to just go home - no golf and out $40. I was then asked to play as a single on a Saturday behind the group that was booked after mine. Because THEY didn’t want to wait? No thanks and never again.
That you mention pace of play and not the fact that you gave away my spot says a lot. And made me wait for the group booked after me?
We apologize for the pace of play issue you experienced. We always try to keep a great pace when having our golfers on the course. Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback as we will use your review to better the experience going forward. We hope you give us another try in the near future!
nice greens. slow pace
good shape for early season. greens in very good shape. played during week in under 4 hours but over 5 hours on weekend.
Layout was great
Not too long from the tips except for the par 3s but plays longer on some holes, fun layout and going to play again.
Not for Walkers
The course layout and terrain are in themselves interesting and challenging, but this is a course very much designed for golf carts -- distance from green to the next tee is often as long or longer than the hole just played. Walking is the heart of the game, and design like this undermines it. That said, the fairways and greens were in surprisingly good condition for late March in New England.
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass on your feedback to the teams in charge so they can work to make changes. Thanks for visiting Cold Spring Country Club. We hope you'll give us another try in the future.
