Ledges Golf Club
About
The Ledges Golf Club in South Hadley is tucked away in the Pioneer Valley, an area of western Massachusetts known for its lush, rolling hills. It is a favorite amongst locals since it is one of the best values in the region. The course enjoys scenic views that stretch to Mt. Tom and the Holyoke Range. It is on the shorter side at just over 6,500 yards from the back tees, but the dramatic changes in elevation make it seem much longer. Most of the greens are raised with steeply sloped sides, making accuracy essential since missing them by even just a few feet will result in a serious penalty. The golf course has a heavily wooded front nine that seamlessly transitions into a more open back nine featuring links-style holes. The Ledges is a shotmaker's course that offers several interesting risk-reward opportunities.

Ledges Number Four, Par 4, 276. The fairway is narrow, with precious little bail-out to its right. A driveable hole for the bold. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2022

# Nine, Par 5, 528. These bunkers will snare many an approach shot that is sliced or pushed. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2022

The 10th is a classic downhill par-5 of 564; it’s a three-shotter for all but very long, straight hitters. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2022

The massive bunker that sides green eleven could be a nightmare for those who aren’t all that handy with a sand wedge. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2022

Eighteen (from the left rough): Great finisher where you’ll want to avoid every one of the seven fairway bunkers, including these three. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2022

The final hole as seen from its right rough. Getting up and down around this green is no simple task. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2022

Nice Round at Ledges Golf Club
The course was in tremendous condition. Fairways were is great condition, greens were well kept, 4:15 round. Perfect day, literally nothing to complain about.
Close to being excellent
If the Ledges had a starter and a ranger, the course would be 5 stars as an everyday golfer course. Dollar for dollar it’s a tremendous bargain and worth a visit.
From the start. Pro shop attendant was great. Sometimes I feel like those folks side-eye GN users. This was not the case. He kindly gave us directions to the driving range which is off-site so if you’re new to the course, it’s on your left hand side across from a dog park a hundred yards or so before you hit the parking area. My suggestion. Some of the balls are absolute garbage which leads me to believe it’s not owned by the course?
We were paired with a couple regulars (we traveled 90 minutes) and they were good guys. But here’s where the trouble really starts. There was a large group of loud people on the putting green and it had bachelor party vibes and a part of group thought they’d played a six-person scramble midmorning on a Sunday. Everyone can imagine what this does. The group in front of us was with the party, but they drifted between 3-4 guys during the round. Can’t forget what happens when the beer cart hits the group. Sure. Just start telling “what do you guys want to drink?” like no one else can hear you. You get my point, but this is a one off I’m sure, but a stater and ranger would have out an end to this pretty quickly.
As for the course. There are some NARROW and challenging holes. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens were in very good shape. The layout includes a lot of variety, elevation changes, some water, and lots of trees. Only disappointment closes related were the bunkers which were a 2/5.
All in all, aside from my pace of play rant, I think this is a terrific place to spend the day. If your ball flight is not particularly straight, bring extra balls.
Needs Yardage Markers
Course was in solid condition. I know it is a world where people have their own yardage gauges but that’s not always the case. There is basically no yardage out side of a 150 stake or at the tees. There is zero yardage on sprinkler heads or at the tee boxes
Fun layout. Nice people.
Would recommend to anyone. Nice layout. Well maintained. Good people working there. First time playing at this course. Good times.
Fun course in great shape and worth the money
Love, the overall course, particularly the greens which were level and fast providing for true putts. Fairways were cut low and rough was moderate. My only complaint could be that the sand traps were not raked and prepared for play. Overall, I’ll be returning.
Great Condition
A little pricey for a city owned course but they have done some improvements to the cart paths and put in a green light system on one of the blind tee shots. Would definitely recommend.
Great late Fall round
We live in central CT but well worth the 75 minute drive. Course conditions and layout are awesome. They just finished installing paved cart path on most of the holes. Brought friend to play for his first time and loved it! We highly recommend.
Course in great condition
The course was a great condition and a great value would always take every opportunity to play there
Nice Course but SLOW!
Course was in good condition except where they had aerated. Pace of play was terribly slow on the back 9 after we got behind a fivesome that held everything up. That should never be allowed.
Ledges
When my group of four arrived at least 30 minutes before our tee time there was no staff in the Pro shop that was authorized to check my group in or initially give us cart keys. The gentleman who was in the Pro shop said he was the starter but couldn’t check us in or give out keys. A few minutes before our tee time we got a key. One of the players in our group who waited in the Pro shop for the key was given a key by the starter a few minutes before the tee time so he wasn’t able to warm up. Not the service we were expecting as we have played the course before and all was good. Hopefully it will be better next time.
