Greens are rapidly improving
They lost their irrigation system last summer for a week during the hotest time of the year. The greens were severely damaged. It is a creeping bent grass so it is coming back. I would guess the greens will be in good shape by late fall of 2022.
Right now it is a beautiful place to be outside and play golf. It is a thinking golfers golf course. Lots of opportunities to play flop shots or a "bump and run" or chip or pitch. If you know those four shots and when to play them you'll like the course.
It will be more fun when the greens come back.
Best course in the area
In my opinion this is the best groomed course in the area. Dom and the staff are friendly and curtious they work hard to create an atmosphere that's second to none no matter what your level is. They host several contests from the Saturday points play to par 3 tournaments. Of the 3 public courses in the mcminn area, I would play this one 1st. The only thing I can say that needs work are the sand traps need to drain better and renewed. The tall grass around some of the holes need to be mowed so you can find your ball and there needs to be more amenities at the club house.
Par 64!
I was passing thru and had time to kill so decided to find a place to play. Price seemed good, website photos seemed good so I decided to give it a try. I walked up to #1 and it was a par 3. Kinda weird but thought oh well. #2 par 3. I then looked at the card and realized the course was a par 64 with a bunch of par 3's. Only a few 4's and 5's. Course was in real good shape though. Tees, fairways, and greens were excellent. However the surroundings were absolutely overgrown weeds and nasty. All the ponds and creeks (it has several# were lined with waist high weeds. No chance of finding a ball on waters edge and if in water the creeks were flowing like rapids. None of the sand traps were raked....most had standing water in them. Every single hole was a straightaway...no doglegs except #18. The greens were bentgrass and in superb shape but very soft. Soft as in when my ball hit it plugged so deep that about 1/4 of the ball was showing. A complete hole where it hit. I have to say I was not prepared for how short the course was. All the back tees were not in play #as in the back rocks were up with the white rocks). I proceeded to play from the back tee boxes anyway and noticed they were not even cut. When I walked up to clubhouse there was a handwritten sign on the wall that said "No cut off sleeve shirts or cut off shorts". And after seeing the cliental I know why it was posted. Clubhouse had some drinks and snacks but nothing elaborate. Just your basics. If you want to work on your short game this is your course. The actual playing grounds were in great shape....it was the rest of it that made it look bad. It was not for me. Handicap 15
