Very bad conditions
I haven't played this course in 20 plus years before today. It's the worst course out of the 25 I have played this year by far. The Tee boxes are in terrible condition, the greens are in very very poor condition, bad enough to affect putting. The layout and hills I love but the course needs alot of up keep. The fairways are mowed weeds and over grown trees and limbs are blocking some line of sight on holes completely. Save your money and go to White Oak or Ridgewood.
Good value short golf course. Friendly staff. Greens are rough but there's been no rain.
Thank you for review! We do apologize the greens were not to your satisfaction. We did aerify the greens early September and as you said, we have not had rain. Our bent grass greens like cool and wet weather, so they let us know when they are not happy during hot draughts. We hope you will visit again!
Greens are in very rough shape
This course is short and there’s a lot of elevation change which makes it fun, but the greens are in very rough condition so much so that it affects play.
We apologize you were not please with your visit. We did aerify the greens the week of labor day. We hope you may give us another chance in the future.
Hidden Gem, Great Value
Was in the area on a family vacation and found this course for an affordable round of 18. Course layout was more challenging than it looks online and played great. Only downfall was the greens were in rough shape but playable. New owners are definitely taking steps to improve the course and the staff was the most friendly I have ever encountered at a golf course. Would play again!

They have really made some nice improvements in the last year. Greens are in great shape. Pace of play was outstanding.

Better every time
Inexpensive muni on Athens TN. New owners have made numerous improvements over 2 years. Fun course with plenty of challenges. Well worthwhile.
Decent Value
Played this course early morning. Pace was excellent throughout as it was light for a weekend. Some of the holes had a really interesting layout with the elevation changes. The greens weren’t in the best shape and some more signage would be better as the layout is a bit confusing. Decent value for what you pay for.

Better every time
Public golf course with new ownership a few years ago. New owners have done a great deal to improve/ shape/ trim this course which was overgrown and a bit run down a few years ago. I meet my buddy from Knoxville there (I live in Chattanooga), good halfway point. We have played there a number of times. It plays better each time we go. Many holes are quite beautiful and challenging. Very hilly course. A cart is a must.

Great budget course
Inexpensive family owned course. Current owners are working hard to make improvements in a course that was not maintained by previous owners. Gets better every time. Lots of fun!

Fun budget course. New owners continue to make improvements. Third time playing for me and the course looks better each time.

We only had time for 9 holes due to a frost delay but really enjoyed playing the course.

Whatever you do, don't miss the green on par 3's or fairways on 4's and 5's . You may have just lost your ball.

Some of the rough had thinned out and was almost gone. This summer, we were letting it grow a little higher to help it thicken back up. We have started cutting it back down a little shorter now. We hope you will visit again!

Greens are rapidly improving
They lost their irrigation system last summer for a week during the hotest time of the year. The greens were severely damaged. It is a creeping bent grass so it is coming back. I would guess the greens will be in good shape by late fall of 2022.
Right now it is a beautiful place to be outside and play golf. It is a thinking golfers golf course. Lots of opportunities to play flop shots or a "bump and run" or chip or pitch. If you know those four shots and when to play them you'll like the course.
It will be more fun when the greens come back.
Best course in the area
In my opinion this is the best groomed course in the area. Dom and the staff are friendly and curtious they work hard to create an atmosphere that's second to none no matter what your level is. They host several contests from the Saturday points play to par 3 tournaments. Of the 3 public courses in the mcminn area, I would play this one 1st. The only thing I can say that needs work are the sand traps need to drain better and renewed. The tall grass around some of the holes need to be mowed so you can find your ball and there needs to be more amenities at the club house.

We apologize you were not happy with your visit! This course was amazing 20 years ago. Since then it has been neglected. We bought it 3 years ago and we are trying very hard to get it back where it needs to be. Our vision is getting it back to where it was 20 years ago, but it took 20 years to get to where it is and it will take a while and lots of money to get it where it needs to be. Please know we are trying very hard though! We aerified the greens in September and Bentgrass greens, unlike typical bermuda for this area, are not happy in hot dry weather. We try to baby them during these times, but anything we do is nothing like what mother nature is able to do. We hope you give us another chance sometime, but if not, we apologize you were not happy!
