Downhill slide
Course could be great again, one day. Still a good and friendly staff. But, with so many blind shots the course would need immaculate upkeep to be playable and enjoyable which it is not.
Two foot high rough and dead, no. 14, or dying greens, grass filled or pock marked bunkers and signage that looks like you are headed for a garage sale.
Please SELL
Course needs new owner Terrible shape and superintendent quit. Seven greens need revamped. Could be a great course but not under this ownership
Regret playing here
The course is in very bad shape. Tee boxes horrible. Greens not mowed and like putting on shag carpet. I 3 putted most holes. Supertendent not watering the course. Fairways have green stripes where fertilizer was not applied evenly. Go somewhere else and avoid this poor playing conditions.
Unbelievable
I have always liked the design of this course. I have always hated the greens of #2, #6, #11, #12, and #17. They belong on a local clowns putt putt course. I bet an honest mower would agree, they're ridiculous. But yesterday is the last time I will play this course and I just moved to Kearney in December. Tee boxes are half or more dead on many. Some tee boxes haven't been mowed for so long that dandelions have grown, bloomed, and seeded out and the bare stems are still standing unmowed. The greens were mowed today but with the dead spots, grooved lines across them, unbelievably slow bouncy roll, the ownership needs to sell out. This could be the coolest links type course outside of Wild horse in Gothenburg but it's obvious ownership won't put the money into the maintenance or upgrades that could accomplish that. I forgot the traps. Sandburs and weeds IN and around them are terrible. I've played this course about once a year since it opened because it has so much potential but never again.
First Time Visiting
Overall an excellent experience. They were getting course ready for winter which we were aware of so the greens had just been cut a week or so before. Fairways were in excellent shape and the staff was very friendly. I want to add that the pro shop hats were an excellent price! We will definitely be returning.
Challenging yet a fun layout
Awaraii Dunes is a fantastic example of prairie golf with undulating greens, varied terrain, prairie winds and ample opportunities to score well. The course’s multiple tee boxes allow for all levels of players to enjoy their round.
Beautiful Course
The course is a challenging yet beautiful course. Reminds me a of an Old Irish Links course. Friendly management with a lot to offer!
Great Course
Played it the morning after some heavy rains so the course was wet in some spots, but the greens were dry! I played it for the first last year when they were trying to recover from an icy winter and it has totally bounced back this year. I would put it in the same tier as Wild Horse in Gothenburg, another great course.
Much Better Than 2022
The course was in much better shape than the summer of 2022 when the greens were virtually unplayable. The greens have filled in and roll OK. Again, much improved from a year ago.
Overall the course layout is good. There are a couple greens that are gimmicky which I don’t like. The fairways are extremely generous.
Golf staff very friendly, easy to talk to. After considering not going back after 2022, I will again someday. I just need to get over a couple goofy greens.
While the greens are not all the way back from the winter of2021-2022 they are much improved and almost all are now very true.
Great layout!
Course has a great and challenging layout. The greens are very large and at our time of okay slightly inconsistent as it’s been dry. Fairways in overall great shape as well as the boxes.
