Unable to complete 18 holes due to only 14 holes open before midday.
I booked to play 18 holes at Sunningdale Heath at 8am with 3 partners. We were told on the 14th tee that the last 4 holes were shut, we were told this would have been a condition outlined on our booking. I checked my confirmation in case I had made an error. My confirmation was for 18 hole at 8am. We were offered the chance to play some of the front 9 holes again, or to return after midday to play the last 4 holes. My partner’s and I were really disappointed to not finish our round. Golf now offered me 2 £20 vouchers as compensation. As we paid £55 per head, £220 total I confirmed that we felt this was not fair compensation.
If you are going to play the course I would recommend confirming the whole course is open.
I organised this round for players travelling from London, and staying as guests with me from the US. We felt hugely let down by the situation that misinformation caused to stop us playing on the day which I hope other players will avoid.
The course is an enjoyable short course and the staff were very accommodating and professional, but unable to deliver what we had paid for at the time of our booking.
14 holes....
All was very good and please to get a game in, paid online for 18 holes for two people.
Turned up and played 14 holes only to fine 15 - 18 were closed. I think this was because of the tournament at the adjacent club and the overflow car park being the missing holes. No major problem but not once was it mentioned until we finished the 14th hole, and saw the sign!
Highly priced for a short course
37.50 for a par 3 course was not a very good price at all. It was my fault for not researching enough but I don’t think it is good enough. Due to it being a par 3 course, the players it attracts make it a very slow pace aswell.
poor value, poor condition
lets start off with the only positive of this course, the greens, they were in fantastic condition, no complaints at all here.
Negatives - poor conditon fairways lots of thin grass and bobbles
Tee Boxes, horriffic, not cut, not level hardly any grass on them.
Signage - not overly clear
paths - what are they?
Price - over priced
Sunningdale shouldnt be attaching there name with this course in its current condition. It has alot of work to do and it doesn tseem like it has been worked on for a while apart from the greens.
Personally I wont be returning on this course which had a weird layout to it as well, just odd. Wont be recommending to friends as well.
Overpriced
This course shouldnt be linked to the sunningdale name. Its over priced £35 to £40.
Fairways were poor.
Tee boxes battered and not cut great
Signage terrible.
Poor layout.
Bunkers poor.
The only good thing about the course were the greens which were excellent. But i would avoid, it was just weird!!!
The Golden Gem.
I Haven’t played many short courses, I’d say this is simply brilliant. Brilliant for your short game, some challenging and long par 3s, as well as some shorter par 4s. The layout is simply stunning. Played here for an annual ‘Christmas golf’ with my dad and two brothers, had a great time, staff were very friendly and the views of the old course that you see on the back 9 are just breathe-taking. 5stars all round for course layout, conditions and staff friendliness.
Oh and lovely house IPA in the bar afterwards!
A fantastic course for beginners and advanced golfers. I recommend
Sunningdale but not as you know it.
Booking Sunningdale albeit the heath course and mostly par 3s, I was expecting immaculate tees and greens and although the greens were ok, the tees were shocking with a couple just left for dust.
I know the more illustrious neighbour course is probably 5 times the cost but I was still expecting a more picturesque, better laid out course. A few holes were were lovely but overall, I wish I had gone somewhere else.
Nice corse for your short game but to expensive in my opinion
Lovely little corse with some nice holes. tee box’s could use a bit of work and a few of the greens but overall course condition was good. £40 for what is essentially a par-3 course Ino is to much. And the club house shuts early so tee off early if you want a pint with your playing partner after.
Great Small Course
What a gem - great course - par 58 and you can get round in just over two hours.
Brilliant condition very challenging and excellent for improving short game.
Club house staff and food is excellent and very happy to see you.
I will be going back
