Greg Norman signature course Jan 20,2018
nuce track, good shape, back nine was very slow, if you’re not good a chipping to elevated greens good luck, greens are a little grainy, but roll true relatively fast my caddy did not seem to know how to read them grain wise and they are Bermuda and like I said a little hairy
Nice Course But Overated
It’s Becoming pretty Much Par for the course, These destination Golf Course By Famous Designers Are All Nice But Just Unbelievable OVER-PRICED. The Hot-Deals Price is $105.00 and I’m On Vacation Playing in January and it’s Freezing and Snow is on The Ground back Home; So I’m Okay with $105.00, But $250.00.......!!!! They Are Crazy. Not Even Close , Bulle Rock is Going To Run you $150.00 in Maryland and its Not Even Close in Comparison. The caddies Are Great ( Which is Required ) and Not Included in Your Green Fee’s, and The Staff Service Like The Nicklaus’s Course Still Sucks. I was Once at a Resteraunt and asked The Waitress For Some Napkins and she brought Me One Napkin, Like there was a Shortage or Something. ( Thats How They are with Range Ball on The range. You Pay Over a Hundred Bucks and they don’t want to Give you range Balls. If You Show up early like I always do,The Really Discourage You From Going to the range. The Chipping Green Is almost in the same area as the range may be ten feet away , so if you’re trying work on that you have to keep your head up because an errant range Ball Could kill you. It a Fairly new course and I guarantee that’s Going to happen. Ive never seen anything like that before. The Putting Green Is The Smalles Ive Ever Seen with 3 Cut Holes and about 40-50 golfers trying to putt on them at the Same time. The Course Lay-Out Is Beatiful Greens Lightning Fast and the Course has 6 Par Fives. If Your in Nuevo Vallarta its Worth Playing at Least Once.
Water water everywhere
Challenging if you do not like water. If you play well, no issue. One concern - you must take a caddy - this should be identified when booking the course. Not expensive, but must be expected.
World Class Course & Amenities
Course is in prime/excellent condition. Greens are quick but not over the top. bunkers are excellent.
great course but a little pricey
This course has a mandatory caddie that you must pay on top of your fees. The course is lovely, lots of water and sand and the greens are fast, aim before the green to roll on or you will go over. The pace was good and the caddie was very helpful.
Ok course but for the price on my behalf it’s not worth 250$US Got a good deal on GolfNow and if i would have paid full price i would have been very disappointed. I’ve played many courses down south a at 250$ a game the courses were much better. We had a caddy for 3 players but he was always with the same guy who talked spanish. I would go back but at 80$US not more.
New Layout
Jan 2, 2018 was the re-routing of the two courses at Vidanta and as such we got to play the 5 brand-new holes incorporated into the Norman routing.
Caddies are required which was good in finding the new holes, course conditions were great especially on the new holes. There was some invasive grasses they were taking care of but nothing that hindered play. The layout of this course is forgiving off the tee and painful around the greens. Hitting and sticking greens is difficult but that was also part of the fun of this course. Would play here many times over.
A Very Solid Golf Experience
When of the best golf experiences! A golfers layout with challenging greens. It was a very calm day and I enjoyed the conversation with the Caddy as much as the golf. I didn't expect the day to include the cost of a Caddy, however in the end it was well worth it.
Very nice. Fast greens
This was one of. The five top course I have played on very nice
Fast Greens, fast fairways!
I knew with Greg Norman's name associated to this course to expect a beautiful and high quality golf course experience. Upon arrival the staff greeted us with friendly and helpful service.
The course was in exceptional condition and the beautiful trees, water hazards and mountains in the background added to our great experience.
You will need a caddie to assist you in reading these lightning quick greens. The fairways were hard and fast and added to our enjoyment.. The course is a resort friendly with wide fairways off the tee. Highly recommend this course.
Better with Maturity
The course has gotten better with maturity since our visit of last year. We played the course three times during our most recent visit, we enjoyed all three rounds of golf. The course is well maintained, the bunkers are in good shape. The greens are firm, however this should change when the greens have set to the designer's wishes and watering is increased. The fairways are ample, allowing for most golfers to enjoy the experience. We were able to request the same caddie all three rounds, Gabriel (the son). He had good knowledge of the greens, provided good insight to aiming points, and had a tremendous sense of humour. Gabriel had our "games" down well during the first round, his club suggestions were excellent.
Great course
First time playing it and it was a great experience, course setup and design is amazing. Greens are fast and challenging. Playing again here for sure.
Amazing Course- but expensive
Beautiful course, flat but challenging. Caddie fee required in addition to greens fees
Paspalum Greens
Course is in great shape and the staff was wonderful. Did not like the Paspalum greens at all. By far the most frustrating greens I’ve ever played.
Vidanta - Norman Course
Excellent time. Check-in was prompt and timely. We had an excellent caddy, Hugo. Fully versed in the course and attentive to every detail. Multi-lingual capabilities made it comfortable for all of our group. Course was in pristine condition. Weather was hot but not relevant given the experience.
A great place if you can get a good GolfNow.com rate
I live in Puerto Vallarta and I play here on a regular basis. The rates for this course are high, but you can get a good deal via GolfNow.com. Don't pay full price.
The track is fun, long, and challenging. Plenty of water.
The rough is forgiving so if you miss the fairway you pretty much have a good shot. The greens hold pretty well, and roll true. They are very fast in the summer months.
Caddies are mandatory. Be prepared to pay about $20 per player. The tip is mandatory but the caddies are worth it.
Enjoy your round.
Pro shop staff observation
I was surprised that the pro shop staff appeared to have little authority for a simple request.
I certainly blame the upper management for the lack of trust they give the counter staff. For example, I played the Nicklaus course a couple days previous and I'm certain because it's slow season I may have been one of few that day. I asked if I could take a quick drive around the Norman course and after waiting for what seemed to be 15 minutes I was denied. I don't get it, you would think they would want to show it off and get some more play. This kind of upset me at the same time I played it two days later.
Sincerely
Dave
Vallarta Norman Course
Played the Norman course 5 times between 08/24/17 and 09/01/17 used Golf Now each time and had a great time each day. The greens were punched 2 weeks prior but were in good shape. The green are tough with lots of double breaks but the mandatory caddys help a lot reading the line. The course is very well maintained and is beautiful. With all the rain they get in Puerto Vallarta the sand traps are hard and there's a lot of them. Best advice is to stay out. All the staff is very friendly and helpful. Would differently recommend Norman and the adjoining Nicklaus course.
Great day. Great clubs. Great golf. Great fun!
As a Vidanta Grand Luxxe owner, I don't pay greens fees at their resorts, but do have to pay $40 for a cart, plus tip the caddy, Poncho, who was very good at reading distances with a laser spotter, plus his reads on the greens was perfect. I'd not played a round of golf in a year because of a wrist injury, but had hit some balls at Top Golf in several cities over the last month, and this helped. Also helping was the incredible Taylor-Made M2 irons and woods in the rental bag. These were extremely forgiving, and except for one Par 3, which I under-clubbed and hit the bank, rolling back into the water, after Poncho tried to tell me I was under-clubbing, I hit and held every green, shooting a sweet 41/43 (with an OB of about 4" on one hole, so I took my lumps).
The course was great, with only a couple of spots on the course under repair. You do see some of the new course construction going on , as they are adding an additional 9 holes. I don't understand the comment from another poster about the clubhouse not being there. It's just fine, with a nice gift shop and a 19th hole with great food and service.
Is it worth the rack rate of $250.00? Probably not, but free as an owner? You bet! The Vidanta lifestyle isn't for everyone, but we've made our investment back many times over by selling weeks, and by offering visits to people who we know are interested in a first class resort, which Vidanta is.
