cool course with some challenges
Greens are a little rough and bumpy ,but a decent course to play with distance and you can Definitely get lost in the trees and water
Good value
Great place to play to practice your game and bring a beginner.
Do wish people would repair their ball marks on the greens !!
Parkland fun
Good deal off of golfnow made the long drive the morning after the first storm (in what seems like forever) worth the risk of possibly encountering more storm or sloppy conditions.
Pace - 5, when we arrived the lot was nearly empty as it appeared most people were shying away from the still ominous skies. We went out early and finished in about 3.5 hours even with a group in front for most of the round. Awesome for a Saturday.
Course conditions - 3, some pooling of water and the associated mud, but overall nice considering the storm. Fairways playable with some signs of drought and/or Bermuda going dormant. Tees were shaggy from lack of mowing with good grass and levelness on most. Bunkers consistent for the several I was in with some firmness due to the rain. Greens very spongy (you could feel it as you walked) yet very smooth and quick. It was mentally difficult to adapt to the dichotomous situation of soft but quick. I am sure the groups later in the day had to deal with more green damage from footprints, but for us being early they were in good shape.
Staff - 4, we arrived early and the pro sent us out without hesitation. The grill staff not only accommodated a special order, but did so with a "you bet, not a problem" which is always great to hear.
Value - 3, off the rack average for the area and deals are available for those whom search.
Food - 3, tasty and hot with normal golf course menu and prices.
Facilities - 3, older but all well maintained. The steep ramp heading to the restrooms was giving a couple of kids some great fun.
Overall - 3, good old school parkland layout. Well maintained. Friendly staff and locals. A good course to play if it is in your area or for a longer trip once or twice a year.
I really enjoyed the fact that many of the back tees gave not only different yardages, but different (more difficult) angles.
good time
course conditions were very good.
greens were excellent.
one of best golf course in central valley.
will play again much as I can.
Good value, nice features
For a municipal course it was in good condition. Green speed was good, fairways were mowed, with clear delineations. Bunkers had good edges with a good amount of sand. Wish the greens weren't so soft , if they were a bit more firm they would be excellent. Nice to see blue tee's with a very different look on some holes which is rare for a course in this price range.
Not a great course
Lot of dead trees. Greens had more dirt than grass. Management and maintence staff should be replaced.
Exceptional Value!!!
This course is offers a extreme value for the money. I played on a weekday morning for $34 with a cart and the course was fairly challenging and very well maintained. I then had a burger after in the bar and it was delicious! Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable.
A very good deal
My third time to play rancho, and again it showed
me no mercy. It's a well run place and they were not over crowded. Lots of water hazards! go have fun with it
Not special
I am a 7 handicap golfer. I would not drive more than 5 minutes to play this course, and would never pay the weekend rates based on the quality of the course. Dead spots everywhere, concrete like ground in spots, and very boring setup.
Nice course
Absolutley NO custumer service. Course ran by the regular locals.Three foursomes drove up to the first tee at my t-time. I was a single and was told by golfshop they had no one to pair me up with in spite of me showing up 1 hr early for time and letting them know I would go out early.
Told I could start on back nine at my -time instead of letting my go out in front of the 3 foursomes that appeared a my t-time. Breakfast was so-so after 10min wait to order.
Worth the trip
Very nice course. Worth the drive from Vacaville. Very nice layout with lots of trees. Greens excellent.
Good Value Course
Nice older course with trees and water that gets your attention on #1 and #2. Fairly flat for the walkers.
Outstanding
From first to 18th this is a great course!
I play all over the valley and this is number one in my book! Can't wait till next time.
Afternoon golfing
Great rate of $27.00! If it cost anymore than $27.00 I would have not played the course. I don't play Stevinson anymore because of the cost!
Fantastic Course
Got a late tee time same day, paired up with two lady's and away we went. Only waited a minute or two a couple of times but went right along.
The course was in fantastic shape and the greens were tough. Sometimes could be a little challenging but was well worth the price. People that waited on us were very nice and pleasant. Will play this course again soon.
Well maintained
The course was in great shape, can't say it was pristine but very well maintained. Greens were in very good shape and were comparable to the better greens I've played in the valley. They rolled well but weren't super fast. Beautiful day, temperature was in the mid 60's.
4 hour round, well maintained fast greens.
The course is well maintained, especially the fast bentgrass greens. Despite a tournament being held the day we played, staff managed the flow so that there were no major bottlenecks, we finished 18 holes in 4 hours. Difficulty level was medium, requiring some strategy but so difficult as to be frustrating for the average golfer.
