Review of round
Good course layout which is a challenge.
Greens and tee boxes could be better maintained but given dry weather not too bad
Very slow round though.
Cheap course but nothing special
The layout of the course was good, with tree lined fairways. The greens were very slow and most of the bunkers not raked.
This could be a gem
Love the layout, with it if money to improve the greens (some decease but ball running well), work needed on the tees and around the bunkers were available this could be amazing, would def play again, well worth £22
Amazing value course - will be booking again
Fabulous course for the price - really fun course and staff were amazing!
We had fun
Looked to find a course that would be no too expensive as there were two of us playing and wanted it to be on our route back from Manchester to Cambridge. Found the Derby golf Club. Staff were so friendly and helpful that it made the trip worthwhile. Course needs a little work to bring it up to speed but for the time of year it was pleasant. Staff made our day and the warm welcome meant we enjoyed the course also. Thanks
Played on Monday course in decent condition considering the rain we have had lately.. 2 holes closed.. Still great value for money and shop staff very friendly.. Friendly local members let me through (single golfer) Well worth a visit .. 👍🏻🏌️♂️
Great Course
Top marks as alot of work goes into this course. Always a pleasure to play.
Great Value For Money
Let me start by saying I had no knowledge of the course, I was looking for somewhere to play after work. The staff were really friendly, with the lady behind the bar sorting out my buggy paperwork and the gentleman gave me a quick run through on the course layout as certain holes/ tee's intersect each other.
The course itself has is well established, mature trees and a good mix of doglegs, decent length par 3's and some undulating fairways that can cause very interesting bounces! The bunkers were all in good condition and fairways well cut.. The greens were fair but again for £16 they were more than good enough. It's an easy course to get around, I would walk next time as I think the buggy shouldn't be more than the golf but I was in a rush that day.
Will definitely play there again.
Derby g.c
Played here for the first time today, loved the layout and there are a few different holes from the norm, played back nine first which is a bit shorter and premium on hitting the fairways, front nine a touch longer but equally as good fun, greens ran true and on the whole in very good condition. I will be returning next week for sure !
Whilst £21 doesn’t seem a bad price ,the greens are poorly kept with the 10th and 15th in very bad condition ,they have some sort of growth on them that slow the ball down when putting and the 15th had track marks running right through the middle of it .Having played this course a lot prior to 2020 I am shocked and saddened to see what was once one of Derbys finest courses in such a poor state
An old favourite
I do enjoy playing this course. It’s forgiving in places, some nice par 3s and many opportunities for big drives.
The issues with this course. Like most courses in the area, water. The course and some greens are almost unplayable this time of year. Not sure how this could be rectified. I would like to see a decent on course water hazard - could this be engineered to alleviate this issue?
Also, autumn play with leaves on the fairway is very challenging. I’ve lost countless balls on the fairway which are nestled between leaves. I have noticed that foliage and some tress have been cut back to tackle this issue so well done.
Overall, I’d recommend the course based on the price and the variety of hole. Hope it doesn’t close.
Sinfin Golf Club: A Sinking Ship That’s Beyond Saving
Sinfin Golf Club is an absolute disgrace. The greens are a disaster—completely unplayable, scarred with divots, and more potholes than the car park. Temporary tee boxes? Nothing but a sloppy mud pit. Fairways resemble swamps, with the same old pools of water gathering in the usual spots, showing just how little effort is put into maintaining drainage.
And speaking of drainage, the recent ditch work is a joke. They’ve dug them so poorly that in some cases, they’ve gone below the drainage pipes, making the situation even worse. The result? Ditches that are already overflowing, turning large parts of the course into a flooded mess. It’s beyond embarrassing—this is supposed to be a golf course, not a bog.
The clubhouse is as dead as the course, completely lacking atmosphere, life, or any sense of a golfing community. And for £27 as a non-member? It’s a total rip-off. There are far better options nearby, even Allestree Golf Course, which has been shut for years, is in better condition than this place.
Since Link Golf took over, they’ve systematically destroyed everything that made Sinfin Golf Club worth playing. They’ve alienated members, stripped the club of any soul, and left behind a scruffy, neglected wasteland.
Sinfin Golf Club is a complete write-off. The management doesn’t care, the course is unplayable, and the price is laughable. Do yourself a favor—take your money elsewhere, because this sinking ship isn’t coming back.

Poor but it’s middle of winter
Greens were really poor and not all because it’s winter. Many greens were patchy, many were very wet and some done that spongy bouncy thing.
In the height of summer it’s still only one of those “it’s rubbish but close” courses and only ever gets to be poor to below average.
