Value Play
I got a hot deal... $12 for 18 holes and cart. You really can't beat that. The course is in decent shape. Greens and tee boxes are really good. Fairways are mostly okay but have some patchy spots. If you miss the fairway, there's a good chance you'll be in a dirt patch, and the bunkers were dried up wet sand. There are some water hazards that make the course a little more challenging but also aesthetically pleasing. A decent course, especially for the price, and I would play again if the weather was as beautiful.
Desert Jewel
Had a great time. Beautiful weather and pace was excellent. I think everyone believed the weather report of possible thunder storms and decided not to come out? We did have some trouble finding yardage markers and there were definitely some large holes on the fairway borders. Ground squirrels???? I think a couple of balls were stolen by the critters and taken underground:)
I would definitely recommend and look forward to returning!
Just Lovely!
First time playing this course! The staff was very nice and friendly. The weather could not have been better- 80s with a slight breeze. It was totally worth the 1hour and 15 min drive, and I will do it again. My buddy who went with me got his first hole-in-one EVER on #15- 196ish yrd par 3. It was AMAZING! I will be returning to play this course!
Tierra Del Sol
I play this course quite a few times, it's fun and challenging at the same time. For the price you can't be beat!
For a desert course looks pretty good but the greens need a little work. The staff were very friendly and the pace of playing was very relaxed.
Don't think slow play typical
Normally when I drive by this course to visit family it's not busy. Just caught the wrong Saturday to play it for the first time. There really was no reason for a 5 1/2 to 6 hour round. A course marshal would have helped.
Cart girl was very pleasant and since the turn is not near the clubhouse she actually cooks hot dogs out on the course.
Good course for value, great course if you live locally. Local golfers are very friendly and courteous.
Golf
Never played here before, course was in pretty good shape for being in desert
Nice coarse in the High Desert
We were the first group out as a 2some...Everything was great til the 11th hole...We caught two threesome that came out of nowhere...they played very slow and put a damper on our pace of play.... all in all ...Nice coarse for the $$ and the have Golf specials if you play during the week.
Chief
The course makes you hit different shots. Since it had rained the bunkers where very hard and some had standing water in them.
nice course. good deal
Very clean and friendly. Lots of water which was unexpected. Not crowded. Will play there again
Great water hole course.
Really like this course, will be back !!!course play's fast & friendly course .
A decent course made really worth playing by the price.
I'm from Orlando, FL where golf is king, water is plentiful and as a result, most courses are maintained on the edges a bit better than they are here. Although a little rough on the edges this course plays well from the fairways and greens. I prefer to play from the mid 6000's but played here from 6900+ yards and ended up with my typical mid 70's score. So although I missed my share of fairways the bare edges still allowed me to recover. So book thru GolfNow, come play and if you're fair minded you'll have to admit that it's worth a return visit. Kudos to the GolfNow people!!! Any issues I've ever had were cleared up immediately by these folks; they always make it right. And the Tierra Del Sol staff will treat you likewise…guaranteed!!!
Can't beat it for the price!!!!!!
I play this course a lot and for the price it can't be beat! I've played Muroc, Horsethief, and Rancho Vista which are all within 40 miles of me but this one is the best for the price. Fairways are spotty, ballwashers always empty, and bunkers always need maintained, lots of little things....but with very little work this course could be a real gem. But then they would have to raise the green fees.
Worth playing if you're in the area
I was in the area for a festival and decided to play a round before heading home. Although a links course, it did not play as one. The greens were very fuzzy and slow. The fairways and rough was long and green and they do water ALOT so there was a lot of casual water on the fairways so no links style run out of the ball. The course therefor played a lot longer than the yardage. The bunkers were compacted HARD. Playing from them was chipping from hardpan.
The staff and folks were very friendly and the pace was relaxed with players letting you play through without having to ask.
For a Hot deal price it's worth playing if you're in the area.
Another great day
A great value for a short drive. Bunkers need a lot of attention, a couple greens need work. I've never seen it stack up, not even on prime time Sunday. I paid less for my son and I to play 18 there than I would have paid just for myself at my local course thats around the corner…
Fun in the Sun
This Course is fun in the desert. It does have holes with water. The hard pan can cause you trouble. There are some tricky holes that out of bounds could cost you a stroke. Not a plush course more like a rugged one. Great value for your dollar. The staff is always very friendly.
Good Value, but horrible bunkers
I have played this course several times, since I have a friend that lives in the area, therefore this review is not based solely on my May 31st experience. Pace of play is average for a course, and will depend on your group size and speed of the players more than the course. I have played the course between 4 hours and 5.5 hours once again depending on the group. Course conditions are inconsistent, where your lie may be poor but two inches in one direction would yield a proper lie. That being said the bunkers are consistently poor. The are usually very hard, my group usually compares them to concrete. As such, you will have to alter your bunker shots accordingly. Beyond the bunkers, at a price of $25 including cart, the value is very good for a practice course. Some of the holes are quite fun, and I wish the course would take better care of the bunkers, and even out the inconsistency in the conditions. Overall, if your in the area it is worth a play, but don't expect it to be something it is not. I do recommend a cart in the summer due to the summer heat.
Surprisingly excellent
California City is WAY out there. The course is good. Not difficult but can challenge you a little, especially the last few holes. It's a little patchy but overall the grass was pretty good. Not much play; 3 cars in the parking lot at 3pm on a Wednesday.
Cool track.
The layout of the track itself is really pretty cool with quite a few holes with water. The greens were in decent shape, quite fast and ran pretty true. Unfortunately, the rest of the course was in miserable condition. I had to drop out of "Ground under repair areas about 50% of the time. The bunkers were like concrete. And, the high desert wind affected several holes, making it unfriendly.
