Golfer Reviews
Not as good as earlier in the summer
I played on a Monday morning at St Anne’s for the first time in about 6 weeks. The course conditions were not as good as on previous trips. The tee boxes are divot filled battle zones and something has gone wrong with the grounds keeping generally. At least two of the greens have foot wide rows of dead grass where something untoward happened. I don’t know if the course has gotten more play than they expected, or the weather has hindered maintenance efforts, or what, but conditions were noticeably worse and that is disappointing because I like the course and enjoy playing it. I’m hoping whatever the issues are can be resolved.
St Anne’s Golf Links
This course is in great shape. A few of the greens need some work, but I imagine the rain storms we’ve had this year have been tough on greenskeepers. If you are short off the tee like me, I suggest playing from the gold tees. I wish there was some shade on the course, but it’s Links style so bring the sunscreen. I will be back when my game is in better shape.
Friendly
The staff was so very helpful. Jimmy in the pro shop and the afternoon starter ( can't remember his name)were very helpful. I don't play links courses very often and this one was lovely. I especially chuckled at the dog statues to frighten the geese.
Hard links course
Lots of water. Challenging but traps need attention and it was pretty wet!
Worth it
Beautiful clubhouse. Enjoyed the layout. Challengin, but fair. Course was in great shape. Greens rolled true and were a great speed. Cart paths and bridges were not ideal, but it didn't take away from the overall positive experience. Starter and clubhouse attendant were awesome. Got to play with a league member which was super helpful for target lines. Definitely going to play again.
A hidden gem
We enjoyed our round on the links and we found some holes very challenging. Overall the course was in very good condition. The staff was welcoming, the fee was very reasonable for a Sunday. We’ll be back.
St Anne’s
Awesome course and layout (except for #16 which is super hard for an average golfer). Course conditions were mixed as some parts were great but some need work. If course conditions improve, this is an amazing course.
Great course slow olay
Love the course and usually pace of play is great but this day was extremely slow and no rangers on course pushing groups to speed it up
St. Anne's
Unlike many courses with links in the name, this course actually is very much a links style course. There are minimal trees and hilly terrain covers much of the course. There's water on roughly 3/4s of the holes. The layout is fantastic, with lots of variety and some good views throughout. The only knock on this course is the condition. The conditions were pretty rough when I played with dead spots throughout the fairways and tee boxes. If they put some more money into conditioning, this course could be amazing. That being said, for the price of about $60, it's hard to fault the condition too much here. It's a good course, that could be great someday.
Fix your fu$@&$@ ball marks
This course is beautiful a lot of water on it but doesn’t effect play to bad. If you spray your ball not the course for you sorry it’s a shot makers course. It’s not an easy course for 15+ handicaps. The course conditions for the most part are decent there are a few tee boxes that need help . Onto the ball marks and huge divots listen I must have fixed at least 10 on every green (trying to do my part ) listen I understand if you get upset it’s not an easy course but on a few tee boxes it looked like someone kicked into the turf due to a bad shot listen it’s not the courses fault you suck. On the greens there fast but true great course if it wasn’t so far from me I’d play it every week only thing I have to say is PLEASE FIX YOUR BALL MARKS !!!!!!!!!

Layout was good, lots of water holes. Rough and fairways could use some weed killer but the biggest drawback was the greens and pin positions. The greens were very fast, I mean as fast if not faster than a private clubs greens and the pin positions were 80% on a sloped part of the greens. Miss the cup tapping a downhill put and it's off the green. Public courses should not have that kind of difficulty for average players and also if they want to speed up play to get more rounds in.
