linksy with an abundance of water Photo submitted by MarkMolyneux on 03/11/2020
Course is always more challenging then expected!
Course was wet due to recent weather, but still playable. Wind is ALWAYS a factor at this course and was more then present this round! Grounds were in good condition for early season, including greens. Overall a good outing and will play here again in the future, hopefully under better conditions!
Looking good for the upcoming season
Was the 3rd on the tee time but the other two wanted to play by themselves. So I teed off and had a nice round as a single. Caught up to a bit of a jam on the back nine with a foursome walking but still finished in a little over 3.5 hours.
They’ve been working on the course a lot recently. Adding 2-3 new tee boxes which are still in progress. Greens were punched a while back but the same is all but gone and it didn’t impact my results (I’m my own worst enemy on the green).
Fairways were in good shape. Had rained ~36 hours prior and was dew-y in the morning so they were receptive yet firm on mishits. Had a 25% coupon through golf pass which made it, by far, the best deal of the day in the area.
Course is difficult for my skill level (~17HDCP), especially as the season progresses and the fescue, gets higher and higher. But it’s a fun course with lots of challenging holes as well as some very birdie-able ones as well. Links style: lots of water, wind, and weeds (fescue). Rewarding to play well, maddening in an off day.
St Annes
This course was great, we got it on an amazing day and due to weather concerns it was practically empty. The layout was awesome and everything, minus a few tee boxes being redone, was in great condition. The staff was super friendly and helpful, and they have a great restaurant right next to the clubhouse. Would recommend.
Enjoyable Links Course
Course in good condition for early spring. Pace of play was excellent and staff was very helpful and accommodating.
Great course
Excellent course greens are well kept its a challenge water everywhere accuracy over strength will work wonders on this course
Tough layout with wind gusts to 50… made for some interesting golf. Greens coming back from the aeration nicely. Great layout with water everywhere. Can’t wait for a month or two when it should be in pristine condition..
Early season
Greens were punched (not disclosed online), goose sh,t ALL over the place. Hopefully with today's heavy rains, that will be resolved. No tee markers (except white) and many of the tee boxes had sod removed for replacement.
Just would be nice if it was disclosed online.
Great course great food
As the weather turns I would like to see the greens improve and a beverage cart in the summer time. Other than that course was in good shape and challenging as always. Good place to go.
Just okay
The greens were aerated with no notification from GolfNow or the course website. There were only one set of tee boxes available, which slowed down play as several holes played long and the groups in front of me were struggling. They also have an issue with geese droppings. Based on the course set up and hole layout, this course is not for shorter hitters, in my opinion.
Jimmy in the Pro Shop was very friendly and welcoming. The halfway house was open and had a good variety.
I hope
Love this course as a member at Deerfield I luv to play a course minus the hills. Always easy to get on. Super friendly and on point in the pro shop . Bad areas on the course are being improved each year. Greens in season compete with some of the better courses in the state. Wish they had better yardage markers ie ornamental grass at the 100 150 200 . Wish they would get rid of a few sets of tee boxes on each hole. A few are nice a few are nasty and have been that way since day one. And lastly redo the hole numbers . Super odd set up 18 should be 9 and the hole to the right should be 18. Have way more likes than dislikes on this track will always be back 🤟🏼
Water, water, EVERYWHERE!
First time playing this course and I loved it! Drive a solid hour from Philly to play this course and I would do it again.
This course has a nice layout that forces you to properly strategize your shots. The undulating greens are still healing up from them being aerated but they were definitely playable. All of the bunkers were in great shape and it looks like ALL of the tee boxes have been upgraded.
I understand that there is new ownership and they are definitely putting a lot of money and effort into improving the golf course. I wish this course was closer to my home because I would love to play it more often.
Highly recommend playing this course
Stay away from the water!
One of the better courses to play at here in Middletown, DE. Be ready for the multiple water hazards; however, the layout of the course is beautiful. Also this course provides the great opportunity to club down when necessary.
