Unmaintained
I have been playing golf during summer in the Coachella Valley for over 20 years. Shadow Mountain is the worse course conditions I have ever seen. I understand that golf courses have to keep the grass on the greens longer to protect them in the summer, but some of the greens hadn't been mowed in weeks. It was the same issue with the fairways. They were basically rough and hadn't been mowed in weeks either. The bunkers have not been maintained in months. The course is a complete disaster and way over priced at $30 per round. Stay away!

Just barely okay
Really bad course layout as well as hole layout. Short course with very unforgiving fairways. It’s set up as a beginner course but if you’re a beginner I’d recommend going to a course that has more forgiveness

Staff is so attentive
Really enjoy playing at this course. Back 9 is awesome. Course in great shape and the staff is so alert and helpful. Great job to the team lead but the GM

A step back in Time
The staff are so friendly, they really make you feel welcome. The greens are on the slow side and you really dont want to go off the fairway as the longer grass make it difficult to find your ball. Of course, that makes the course more challenging. The summer prices are excellent value for your money.

Sandy greens
Middle of summer deal and hot helps this rating for the course is tight and challenging this course demands respect and the staff is very pleasant a small warning that the greens are not mowed or a bit slow do to recent sanding or just a heads up would have been proper. Ultimately reminds me to always ask conditions when unfamiliar or visiting.

So I’m in the desert looking to play some decent golf on greens that aren’t punched. While many courses are doing maintenance this time of year, it’s possible to find a quality course that is open and playable. I reserve my time, show up and get the message we all hate, “We just punched the greens yesterday and doing more today.” Wait it gets better, “We only have the front nine open so you’ll be playing that twice.” Lame. The course should of notified golfnow of this so the customer can make an informed decision. I should of just left then and there and took the 3 dollar reservation fee loss. But I paid the 28 bucks to play. Went around once. While it’s cool to play a classic design, overall conditions were lacking, especially some tee boxes were wrecked. This course probably doesn’t get much play so if you’re looking for a quick round, this may work for you.

As a Touchstone employee I was very impressed with the pro Shop lady and cart personnel. Very friendly. They just did the greens so played front nine twice and was 109 out but enjoyed my time.

A Palm Desert Treasure
If you want to play one of the oldest courses in the Valley with a Gene Sarazan history this is the place. Since under recent new ownership one can see the improvements already. It's hopeful that the course and amenities will turn to their former glory. Front nine is in rough shape... very thin grass throughout fairways and greens are suffering badly (not a summer weather issue!), Back nine in better shape. Expect to have fun, not encounter much trouble and use many of the clubs in your bag! Will be back as we had a great time!

Old fashioned golf course
This is definitely an old time course design layout where there is little space between holes and you are practically teeing off next to someone's backyard pool.
Do not play here if you hit banana drives for they will hit many houses.

Rough conditions
I have played here a number of times since the pandemic started in 2020. Over that time the greens have deteriorated and the course is in pretty rough condition on the fairways and tee boxes. I know they are trying to improve the course. They took out the driving range and are putting in putting course. I assume the money has gone into that improvement over the greens, fairways and tee boxes. I hope that they are going to transfer their efforts in the future to the course conditions overall.
