Babcock National

This was the most beautiful course I’ve been on in southwest Florida. Played the best round of golf so far and the layout was phenomenal! The greens were super slow after aeration a week ago but other than that it’s a perfect long course with very forgiving fairways.

Love to play this course when we are here every summer. Got a great price on Golf Now. would definitely recommend this course if you get the chance to play it.

I was looking forward to golfing at Babcock and purchased 18 holes for my husband and I. It was to surprise him for Fathers Day. The course was beautiful and we were paired up with a lovely couple. The disappointment started at about the 3rd hole. We were approached by a ranger and told we were playing to slow. 3 players were very good but I am newer. We apologized and tried to pick up our pace ( which was not slow). 2 holes later we were again told to pick it up- at this point I was so paranoid that I quit playing. I just drive my husband so he could play with the other couple. After the 9th hole we were told we were 16 minutes behind. For the back 9 only the 3 played- we eventually were “ not behind” but it ment running back and forth… it was not enjoyable. My husband is 57 and it was 90 degrees. I played 5 holes out of the 18 I paid for. We will not return- we are not slow golfers. Harassing every couple of holes was ridiculous….. so disappointed.

After many comments from a rude ranger the whole round, on the 13th hole he explained he told the all male group one and half holes ahead they should be farther ahead, because there were 2 women in our group. Being 1 of those women, I said “oh, because we’re women golfers, we’re less capable of playing?”& he said yes, firmly. I thought no way he’s saying this to me. I asked him again calmly & he doubled down yes. I said “oh well then women should be given a discount out here then” and he SAID YES. I decided after that to keep my mouth shut & we finished our round, all of us talking the rest of the way about how uncalled for & disrespectful he had been all day. For the record, those were not the only offensive things he said casually & confidently.

I’ve golfed for over 10 years. Not that it matters but, I play from the standard men’s tees because I out drive most men I play with. Rough front today but shot a 44 on the back. I play on the weekends as a stress reliever - for fun. I work in B2B sales & am decently used to being belittled just because I’m a woman. I’m not one of those crazy feminist. Just a southern born & raised golfer, grew up on a golf course & played in highschool & college. NEVER felt so talked down to as a woman in my life. I cannot explain how seriously I mean that.

I hope any future female customers or female employees don’t have a run in like this with this guy. Very disappointing. I wonder if he knows the LPGA tour exists?

Great course, really nice practice area, with range balls included with your golf.

I have to ask though… Why would you put red tee box I. The middle of there boxes and gold for the women’s tee box. Is it that important to try and be different? I watched ladies use them and not be able to make it to the fairway. Thankfully the Marshall came up and explained the colors to them.

Other then that it is a fun yet challenging course

Very fun course to play. Fairways are generous. Greens roll true but are tricky. Great value out of season. My favorite in the area.

Won't find a better course for a better price in the area.

Course was in great shape.

Play red or grey tees if you are a 10 handicap or below.

Staff was pleasant and lots of water on the course to stay hydrated!

The only down side to the day was being paired with a couple of club members who seemed to being inconvenienced playing with my partner and I. They continuely drove a head before we could hit our approach shots with ever little communication. I know the management can not control the attitudes of their members, but it seemed to be a low volume of play that day, we could have played as a twosome.

The good: Course is in great shape, holes somewhat interesting for a resort type course.

Greens were perfect.

The Blah: Pace of play was tedious at best, singles (me) twosomes and threesomes. It I would have preferred to play with a member but was told to go it alone. That made it even slower. I asked starter why so slow after 18 and he looked at the GPS screen and said he saw no problems.

Front of the house could do better. No one helped at bag drop and no one helped when I finished. I put my own bag on a cart which is no big deal but there were two guys working and talking with other golfers. End of round the same. Can't make much on tips at BN.

I enjoyed the golf though and would go back if heavily discounted.
