Pleasantly surprised
Wanted to add this course to the list so we made reservations on golfnow for a good rate on a midday time Saturday. The course conditions and the elevation changes were both unexpected and welcomed.
Pace - 4, 4hrs on a weekend midday, wish that were the case for every course on a weekend
Course conditions - 3, large undulating greens mostly smooth with medium speed, drought evident in a few areas in the fairways, tees green with a few unleveled/chewed up areas, bunkers looked ok but no one was in one
Staff - 3, my partner said the starter barely grunted but the grill staff was friendly
Value - 4, off the rack is good and the golfnow deal was very good
Food - 3, basic and inexpensive
Facilities - 1, aging and the clubhouse restroom was a disaster, many courses have older facilities but the lack of upkeep/cleaning is something inexcusable and easily changed
On the surface this course appears to be quite easy and wide open. There are two aspects that add to the challenge. First, the Kikuyu grass and elevation changes make the course play longer than the card. Second, when the wind blows (it was minimal for us) you can see the reason the course was designed with so much room off the tees. A local in our group told us the wind gets strong quite often.
I would play here regularly if it were closer to me. The elevation changes, the variety of holes, the challenge of the Kikuyu, the challenge of the large greens, and the pricing all make this course enjoyable.
first time
The course has a challenge for everyone Hole1 is something speical. would play this course again
Can be a bear in the wind.
Surprised to see water in a really dry area, but they have done a good job keeping everything up with this drought.
Greens were really good. . Fairways were totally acceptable. .
Listen, this isn't a country club, so if you know that coming in, its not bad at all....
The Best course in Kern county
Great, always in great shape, excellent greens. River lakes golf course is in such terrible shape the back nine is playing temporary greens, don't go. Drive to Taft you will not be disappointed .
Good deal for the money
This course is in good condition and really a very good value for the money. A little out of town.
wouldn't go out of my way to play
I was itching to play a course between my drive from LA to the bay area. I wouldn't go out of my way to play this course again. The fairways were brown and dry and the greens weren't green. I should have driven up the 101 better course selection. i was so disappointed i left after the 14th. But for $25 through golfnow i can't complain.
Good all around course for the money
Course is in pretty good shape. The greens are a little rough, but pretty fast. You can usually get through a round, depending on when you go, in 3 to 4 hours. I would recommend it!
This course is great for the price.
Really nice course with pretty open fairways. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Greens are nice and well maintained. The only negative is there isn't a Marshall driving the course to make sure the pace is kept up.
Great for the price
Great views and friendly staff. Fast greens. Kind of out in the middle of nowhere but can't beat the price.
This course is quiet and serene
I love playing this course. Its located out away from the hussle and bussle of the city. Its very quiet and relaxing. Very well maintained and the best value for the money hands down.
Nice course.
This is a relatively nice course. There are numerous fairly long par 4's. The fairways are fairly wide and there are not many bunkers to get in your way. There is no water on the course. There are some doglegs and some changes in elevation. The greens are a bit tricky as they can be rather fast and challenging to read
Challanging
The course is playing hard right now. Tricky pin placements and greens are inconsistent. Some are normal and some are very fast. But greens are fairly good shape for as hot as it has been. me and my partner have played well at this course in the past. A great value. Best county course by far.
GOOD QUALITY, FOR COST..
I enjoy Buena Vista golf course, it doesnt matter what day it is, it always, seems to flow nice, and good quality for all to enjoy..
Payed 20 for a round including cart
Can't beat a 20 dollar round with cart. Tee boxes need some work and some greens had some damage.
Hidden Gem with a smile
This course was off the main path for sure, and was where I thought nothing would have been. However, the course was nice and with fairway's that allowed for some inaccuracy and nicely kept greens that were challenging. But what was so impressive to me was the staff. I never have felt more welcome and treated with such kindness in any past golf experience. From the moment I arrived to verify tee time, at the turn for a snack, and returning after 18, everyone was so nice. I never have written a review for any past experience of any type but this course was such a standout in staff kindness that I wanted to take a moment to share and if you find yourself in the area, I would recommend grabbing the clubs and heading over.
Buena Vista Golf Course
Was great value for the money,The greens are fast and were elevated often making your chip important or off you go over the other side. There were some great vievs of the surrounding area and will include it in my travels through bakersfield each year.
Challenging greens to putt on! Fun course!
Had a great time playing with my daughter who plays Junior Golf. This golf course is both family friendly and challenging for the single digit golfers. The greens were in great shape and the course is situated in a very quiet and peaceful location.
The clubhouse also has good food and a large menu!
