Gone downhill to me.
No Marshall. Had a group in front of us with a girl that’d hit 6-10 times per shot. Finally had to tell them to swing a couple times, then pickup and move on. Even then, they gave zero f’s. Took 5 hours to complete our round. No water in ball washers. Called pro shop to tell them and the guy replied “well ya, they leak so there’s nothing in them” like I was stupid for telling them. There was trash everywhere. All over the fences and in the course itself. No sand to fix divots. Grill is fantastic. Fries are delicious and our hotdogs were super good. All the water fountains you see are broken. The bathrooms out on the course barely flush and wreak like urine. I won’t be going back until things change.
August Conditions 9/10 ⭐️
104-110 degrees last couple weeks.tee boxes clean, rough had a nice challenge’ Feel, had some nice semi thick areas, minimal Kern County summer hard pan, just bring the right bounce. Fairways way doable, a lot of Green’ keep in the fairway, I got some nice lies for fairway woods. Fringe around greens really nicely kept up. Greens were Green, really no burnt spots, most of them felt moisture, they were even spongy on some, actually surprised. This Heat, guys are doing very well. Mid-August 9/10… Thx we’ll do this again!
A nice track
Not the best not the worst. Fun layout, stress free and manageable for the most part. No water and course plays friendly to high handicappers. Id recommend playing here.
Course conditions are great!
I have played North Kern for years. There was a period of time when the course conditions were getting pretty bad, so I hadn't played there for a few years. Today I found a pretty good deal for 18 holes and a cart. I was shocked at how much better shape the course was in. The fairways were green and cut properly. The greens were in excellent shape! For weather in the 100+ degrees time of year, I had no complaints!
This course is in the best shape it’s been in years
Great weather with lots of rain this year plus the traps now all have sand and really great to see this course improve over the last year.
Some of the rough is now pretty thick so you gotta keep it in the fairway.
Still quite a few go for mounts that bounce you along as you drive over them in your golf cart so don’t drive fast. Check with the pro shop starting in late March to make sure no high school golf tournaments are scheduled in the afternoon that will slow play.
Good for high handicappers
Course is in decent condition. Fairly flat and easy to walk. Pretty wide open fairways. The rough is full of gopher holes and there are rough areas that are nothing but high weeds. Can’t find your ball if you end up there. Even though it was busy, it’ll we played in just over 4 hours. Prices are right if you get a hot deal. They also have good pricing if you subscribe to their text deals.
