OK as a Hot deal
The course conditions are not that good, including spotty fairways and spotty/bumpy greens, as well as bunkers that need more sand and fewer rocks. Blind driving holes at 5 and 8 require local knowledge for the tee shot. OK for a quick 9 if you get a good Hot Deal rate, but never worth full price. Nice clubhouse and wait people, but amateurish kitchen producing C/C- food at B+ prices.
We played Diablo Hills at 12:30 as a twosome and
finished in about 2 hours. It is 9 holes, generally in
good condition.
Greens and fairways have some spotting but roll
well.
The Greenery facilities are clean and nice, good
lunch and bar.
It is a great practice round if you only have a couple of hours.
Fun with friends
Surprise to see the new clubhouse and more people playing golf during the middle of the day
Not a great value
If you get a hot deal and you just want to play 9 on an average course this course may be worth it, but there are plenty of local courses that are a better value, especially considering DH’s shaggy and poorly maintaimed greens and fairways. The attached clubhouse is nice and new, but the food there is not very good and on the more costly side.
In the need of upkeep
The course has a lot of potential, location wise it's perfect, bear almost anywhere. It's in a bustling city that has a big numbers of golf enthusiast. But to keep them , this. Purse needs a lot of upkeeping to do. The layout isn't that bad for a 9 hole golf course and one thing I like the most should I say is it's walkability. Distance between holes are relatively short and the terrain is mostly flat though there are some andilatiobs in some. Hopefully after they are done with the new clubhouse, they'll focus on improving the course next. It has a huge crowd gathering potential.
Looking for a quick round
Course is not well kept. There are weeds growing in the tee boxes, divots are not fixed all over the course, and pricey for the quality of the golf course. Alright course to play a quick round of golf.
A solid nine holes
A solid nine holes but watch the heat-- I played in the middle of the day with temperatures pushing 104. Not a good idea. And I walked it. If it's hot be sure to take a cart and lots of liquids. The only difficulty I had was in the bunkers which were pretty crusty. Though the course was a bit dried out the greens played soft. A fun course which I recommend.
Good 9-hole Course for a Quick Round
This course looks to be making a turn for the better heading into Spring/Summer. It's gotten plenty of water over the previous months and is a beautiful vibrant green. The course also offers some nice views of Mt. Diablo from a few different holes.
This is a municipal course so don't expect pristine tee boxes, but the fairways are in good shape. Greens are a little on the slower side, but have improved quite a bit in terms of over quality since the last time I played the course. One thing that still needs major improvement is the bunkers. A lot of fairway and greenside bunkers are more like hard dirt rather then sand.
Pace of play is normally excellent on this course, especially if you can get out on weekdays. We played as a 2-some and never had to wait more then a couple of minutes on a tee box.
Other then the long par-5 8th hole, this isn't really a course you need to bring out the driver much. Mostly shorter par 4's and par 3's. Good course to work on your iron game and have-a-go at driving a couple 4's if you'd like.
They're currently re-doing the clubhouse so they have a temporary setup for their restaurant/bar and the pro shop but the remodel (I'd assume to open later this summer) looks like it will be a big upgrade from their old facilities.
The best deal on this course hands-down is that you can play it for $10 on weekdays at select times through Golf Now. If you can get this course on a hot deal time, it is well worth the price.
Diablo Hills Rocks!
Course is in great shape & had a great pace of play! The only downside is the restaurant/bar is under renovation (and looks to be great when done!), so food truck is your only option for now.
Bring your sport drink
I enjoy playing here because it has hills and it push you to bring the next level of your game
Fun course for a 9er.
Course is walkable but can be long for some. Greens are in good shape and fairways are maintained. Sand traps are unplayable most of the time. Course is worth paying for when you want to get a quick round in.
Diablo Hills Review
We walked 9 holes. Weather was warm with a
breeze. Course plays well, some rough spots.
We walked. Hole 2 and Hole 8 are uphill, rest has
a slight grade and was overall very walkable. The
9 holes took around 2 hours.
