Ute Creek Golf Course
About
Formerly a cornfield, Robert Trent Jones Jr. utilized the natural area and the import of over 600,000 cubic yards of dirt to create the challenging Ute Creek Golf Course. The championship course has a traditional links-style layout that is said to challenge even the most avid of golfers. The public, 18-hole golf course offers 7,167 yards from its longest tees, playing to a par of 72. It features several water hazards, especially on the back nine holes, with five lakes situated on the course and two streams that wind through it. Ute Creek Golf Course's well-bunkered greens and undulating, multi-level fairways provide more interesting elements to the game.

great corse
course is in fantastic shape, greens were outstanding...
A Great Layout
Layout was fantastic. Many holes with outstanding approach shots to the green. Many sand traps mid fairway and surrounding greens. Greens were in good shape, rolled true, but not much break. Water came into play on a half dozen holes. A very fun course, fair and enjoyable. Only complaint was that the whole course was lined with houses, did. to factor in the play but did factor in the esthetics.
Phenomenal Course!
I have been doing my best to explore the courses around Longmont and Ute Creek was next on our list. We paid $27 for a round of 18 with a cart and that may be the best "bang for your buck" I have come across. The course is not extremely challenging, but the native found on nearly every hole definitely forces you to keep it straight or bring out your weed wacker. The back nine is fantastic with three par 3s and three par 5s. The only downside of this course (and unfortunately many I have found in the front range) is the proximity of major roads to tee boxes/putting greens. There are some roads with speed limits of 55MPH less than 100 feet from several points on the course so noise can be somewhat of an issue. Overall I would highly recommend this course to anyone, regardless of skill set.
Sand is king
Robert T Jones likes his sand. The sand makes this course a challenge and it seems like every green is protected by at least two and the pin positions the day I played were right behind one or the other. It made me focus a little more then usual and because I played some fantastic approach shots (better the normal). The course as most courses right now was in great shape. I was a little disappointed when I saw a third join the two in front of me on the 16th hole. It was already playing a little slow. They all were workers from the course.
Frustrating round
Although the price was terrific, the pace of play was pretty bad. This is my biggest complaint with this course, as I've encountered it a number of times. I've never seen a five-some on any course I've played, but that was the size of the group directly in front of me!
No beverage cart
the course is a good value for the money. I was only disappointed and the pace of play and there was no beverage cart out on the course.
course is in great shape
nice and green! pace was great but mostly due to there not being very many people out on the course. greens were pretty fast but still fair... puts rolled true, no bumpy greens here.
One of my favorite courses!
One of my favorite courses, but like all courses, the beers are too expensive!
Solid
Not a bad course-- I played solo from the yellow tees and finished in about 3 and a half hours with nobody in my way. Carts were electric which I like, keeps the round peaceful and relaxing. The greens weren't chewed up or anything but it seemed like my ball would roll crazy directions if it dropped below a certain speed (thin, matted grass maybe?). Employees were really nice and went out of their way to try to help me out after a scheduling screw-up that was totally my fault. I'm not sure I'll be back since it's a 90+ mile (round trip) drive from my place but for people who live in the area I think it would be a fine place to play.
Beautiful day for golf
Great price, great course, fun time. We were paired with an awesome couple and had a great Friday afternoon of golf. Would recommend this course to everyone.
Tournament Slowed Play but Good Course...
I started playing around 3.30PM. From the beginning we had to wait for the group in front of us after every shot. Tournament from earlier in the day slowed things down for the afternoon. Also, the people in front of us were just really terrible and slow. We barely finished the round and it took over 4.5 hours. I enjoyed the course. The greens were some of the best I have played so far this season. Just don't need to load up tee times in the late afternoon with people who take longer than 4 hours to ride 18.
Nice course but extremely slow play
Nice course, reasonably priced but can be extremely slow pace of play. I've played here before and got round in 4 - 4 1/2 hours but on this occasion it took me nearly 6hrs to get round.
Otherwise the course was in good condition with a nice layout. Staff are pleasant and helpful.
Worth the trip
If you love strategically placed sand, definitely at here. Beat the afternoon breeze and you can score well. Fairways are wide, stay out of the sand.
Fun course
Challenging golf. Long par 5s. I believe you all need more golf carts purchased and made available at time of play.
Best Course Around
Ute Creek is a terrific, long, wide open, challenging golf course. Super friendly staff. Best range around because they have greens you can shoot at.
Not worth paying full regular price. Pace can be slow
Fun layout, ball marks everywhere
First time out on this course. tee boxes where nice and level. fairways rewarded a good shot. Greens were simply terrible, ball marks everywhere, dead spots, sometimes just a divot would be in your putt line. Could be because its still winter the greens are that bad . would like to come back in June and see how it improves because the Layout makes it a fun course **as long as you are finding fairways**
Great condition for this time of year.
The course was in great condition for two days after Thanksgiving.
Challenging course that requires a little thought. It's not just a gri and rip course.
The course was in very good shape except for the greens. The greens were stressed hard this season with a lot of ball marks. The sand was very good as were the fairways. Overall, a good course
The course is green and soft.
The course is very green from the large amount of rain. The greens are very soft which held shots very well. The soft greens made for many ball marks that were not fixed by some players.
Reasonable Price. Terrible Bunkers.
This was a long drive for me from Lakewood (Belmar) to the course. I like trying new courses on my Tuesday off so I will try not to let this review be influenced by the journey.
This course has a very nice layout, very nice views, but some issues that would make me not want to return.
1. The clubhouse/starter (same thing, no starter on course) did a terrible job of time management. They let many 2 some groups out on the course, including us and the group in front, and a single behind us creating a terrible wait on almost every hole. There is no reason we shouldn't have been grouped together somehow. The ranger on the course never said anything about pace of play, and it took almost 5 hours on a TUESDAY at 10:20 AM. That is ridiculous.
2. The bunkers, or should I say clay pits, are terrible. The course design is one that includes a very high number of bunkers everywhere, which is an awesome challenge since there is little to no trees on the course. However, if you are going to design a course around it's challenging bunker locations, you cannot have this terrible garbage they call "sand". Every single bunker, even the green-side ones, has no more than 1/2" of rocky gravel followed underneath by thick nasty garbage. It is more similar to hitting off dirt than a bunker. They are not consistent at all, and that is the reason I would not go back. If they can actually get some real sand for those bunkers, I would gladly make that drive again for the value. The rest of the course is great. The fairways are well kept, and the greens are very fast but very good to putt on.
