About
Located in Longmont, the nine-hole, municipal Sunset Golf Course is a great, affordable option for beginners and families. Opened in 1924, it is one of Colorado's oldest golf courses. Although experienced golfers may not find it challenging enough, the course provides an excellent spot to practice your short game and it is definitely one of the most scenic courses in the area with beautiful views of Long's Peak. The par-68 course covers 5,966 yards from its 18-hole longest tees. The terrain of Sunset Golf Course is quite hilly and the tree-lined fairways are very narrow. No water hazards come into play but the course is well-bunkered. The signature hole is the par-4 fourth hole.

Had a fivesome of very poor golfers in front of us. In their minds ,they were fast golfers. Found a staff member on the 8th hole,and he had a talk with them, but most of the round was done.

2 of us were playing behind a group of 5; their pace was very slow even though they claimed that they were fast players. Course etiquette doesn’t allow groups over 4 , and when you see that the group behind is constantly waiting, just let the faster play through. They should have realized that their skill level was low!
Course doesn't have enough real estate
This course may be fine for many golfers but I prefer a larger golf course where I don't feel the presence of other golfers all around me
Pristine playing accommodation
This course eliminates any excuses for bad play due to course conditions.
Every green is pristine. Every fairway is perfectly groomed, and hitting into the rough isn’t the end of the world/hole. The rough is groomed beautifully as well. making it easy to find a ball quickly and still save yourself with the next shot.
I played 4 rounds in two weeks while visiting from California and I wish I could bring the course home with me.
Looking forward to playing when I come back.

Great value
We love playing this course, referring to Sunset as a “regulation 9” type of course. The mature trees create a beautiful backdrop and obstacles to the pace of play. Fairways are wide enough to be forgiving, but still challenging with the doglegs. We like to play the course for a relatively quick round of golf without having to resort to just a par 3 course. 5 Stars!!
