About
Located in Longmont, the nine-hole, municipal Sunset Golf Course is a great, affordable option for beginners and families. Opened in 1924, it is one of Colorado's oldest golf courses. Although experienced golfers may not find it challenging enough, the course provides an excellent spot to practice your short game and it is definitely one of the most scenic courses in the area with beautiful views of Long's Peak. The par-68 course covers 5,966 yards from its 18-hole longest tees. The terrain of Sunset Golf Course is quite hilly and the tree-lined fairways are very narrow. No water hazards come into play but the course is well-bunkered. The signature hole is the par-4 fourth hole.

Worn out.
Something has happened. Maybe it’s too early in the season but the turf is in bad shape. Freezer burn? Greens with bald spots. Never have seen it this bad in the five hears we’ve been coming here. .

Expected more
First time golfing at this course and it will unfortunately be our last time. I understand that it is a city course but I guess I was expecting more after reading some of the reviews.
Clubhouse- the good news- offered food & drink. The bad news- similar to the course, it was very tired and run down.
The course was in really rough shape. I understand I golfed in April but everything was needing upkeep. Hazards, greens, tee boxes, etc. were all in poor shape. The course layout felt dangerous as several of the fairways are VERY narrow and balls were flying around from various directions. Several times we heard balls hits trees and then ricocheted towards us. Really tough to keep your focus while feeling like you are playing in a game of dodge ball.
I really hope the City of Longmont starts putting more money into this course. It is in tough shape across the board.

Where everyone knows your name
Great front range vistas. Long’s Peak off first tee and Pike’s Peek off number 3. Pete is a great host-the only one who actually cares enough to know my name. Good price with cart included or a great walk. Just a friendly place and a real gem. Our favorite place.

This course is unpretentious and really awesome. Haystack replacement for sure, with better views and more varied play.
Beautiful, tight course. Lots of hacks
Course is tight. Pace is usually slow. Lots of hacks who often don’t yell fore when they shank. It is very pretty with nice old growth trees

Fun Course, but no Par 5's
I have played here several times. Today's round was very slow. Waited 15 minutes to tee off on hole 3, as it was backed up. Ruins the flow for sure. Still a fun unique course. Staff is great!
