Richter Park Golf Course
About
Situated at the heart of Fairfield County, Richter Park Golf Course is situated along the West Lake Reservoir. The course has been ranked among not only the top ten golf courses in Connecticut but also as one of the top 25 public courses in the country. The course sprawls across more than 180 acres of gently rolling hills. Water has a prominent presence throughout, with the Reservoir bordering seven holes on the front nine and water hazards coming into play on a total of 14 holes. In addition to the water, there are a variety of elevation changes ranging from subtle to dramatic, which can make it a tough golf course to play your first time. Be prepared for a few blind shots. Richter Park's signature hole, the par-5 12th, is bordered by Boggs Pond. Your third shot will be over water to a bunkered green.

Best Public in Ct
Always consistent. Great staff, views, course. Hands down my favorite public course in Ct. Played in January, February and March 2020 with carts, and no restrictions at a great price. Can’t beat it. The restaurant does a great job as well with the volume. Overall great operation.
Greens and Fairways !
Very well Maintained Greens and Fairways.
We Enjoyed So Much!!!
Overall great experience
All good! If I had to be critical, a lot of blind shots which is tough when playing the course for the first time.
Great conditions!
Course was in perfect condition today. Greens are running fast.

Very courteous staff, the course is very playable for all golfers, some tee boxes were very worn down,< fairways and greens were in good conditions< the ranger was very helpful on one of the blind holes, overall a good experience.
A very unfriendly operation!
OK! I drove all the way down from Newtown to the course to practice only!
I had heard so many wonderful things about the course and had see the web site, so I went!
On the drive in the course looked OK, but the parking lot was very crowded? My first disappointment was the range and the little green mats for the teeing area! Not what you want to see if you are a serious player!
I asked one of the grounds crew about practice balls and he said! “Are You With The Group”? I said, “No” well, he said, then you will have to talk to the Pro over there!
I walked over and asked the Pro about practice balls and he said the same thing, “Are You With The Group”? I gave him the same answer and he informed me that I would have to wait until after 1:00 P.M. to hit practice balls! Mind you nothing posted on the web site mentioning a group outing! Now about 15 teeing areas on this little range with about 5 of them being used and he gives me the Bums Rush! He was very dismissive in his rebuff of an answer! No people skills at all!
It would have been nice if he would have thanked me for coming down to his course to practice and maybe even suggesting that I go in for lunch to kill the time, but No! You can’t pay to hit balls on our mostly vacant practice tee until after 1:00 P.M. Lets just say “No” to some additional cash and insult a potential customer, All in one fell swoop! It takes practice to be this insensitive but he had mastered it!
I will never go to this place for anything and I will guarantee you that I will tell everyone I know what a substandard and rude operation they are running! I learned a very valuable lesson from “One Of The Best”
Always Treat People The Way You Would Like To Be Treated!
You Never Know Who you Are Talking To!
Still needs love
Better condition than last time I played, but still need some help. Tee boxes are awful. Side hill lies with driver is uncalled for.
Also need to get the regulars to fix their diviots. Make it a priority. Must have fixed at least 5 fresh ball marks on each green and we played at 640am! Greens were in good shape besides the marks though.
I also can not stress enough that something needs to be done with 15. Really anything as the entire fairway is unplayable.
The layout is fun, but if they put some effort and dollars into this course it would be worth the 80+ Green’s fee.
Extremely slow play
Richter Park is a very nice municipal course. There is a very nice restaurant, and the setting is lovely. However, the pace of play was intolerably slow - we literally waited on every shot. I would not recommend playing this course on the weekend.
Great layout
This is my home course, so I’m biased. I love the layout and the staff is great. Pace of play is fair, no major issues. However, they need to really get holes 15 & 16 back in better shape. Too “swampy” for the price you pay as a resident (even less appealing for a non-res)
Excellent experience across the board!
In every facet, the course was terrific and the staff even better!
