One of the toughest holes here is the second, a long par-4 with woods to the left, more trees on the right, and two large bunkers guarding the green. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/01/2024

The fifth is a gem of a par-five, starting with a terrific downhill tee shot and a view of Hartford in the distance. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/01/2024

Nine is a classic uphill par-4; its fairway doglegs left, then heads for this relatively narrow green. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/01/2024

Twelve doglegs right, then ascend a small hill to a pitched green, a green that is often treacherously fast downhill. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/01/2024

Guarding the left of fairway thirteen is a prominent water hazard, but it can be as fatal as it is beautiful. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/01/2024

trying hard to improve conditions
Has a good on there 3 year plan . At this time they have a good start. Greens are very tricky and fairways are in good shape..Traps are playable.. You should enjoy the experiences of the course. The tees are in the works to be good.
Recent Acquisition
Billy Casper Golf bought this under maintained course and has already made improvements to the greens. The staff said it was a 3 year project. Tons of potential and very scenic in the fall! I had a great time!
Good experience
Very good deal. Noticeable improvements to the condition of the course since new management took over. However, bunkers could use more sand and fewer rocks. Fairways, roughs and greens were in good condition. Would definitely return.
Course in progress
First time I've played here in years. I'm not sure about the other reviews. The greens were recently aerated and most of the holes were closing up so really didn't affect putting except for 1 green. There are some bare spots on the fairway ...so roll it over with the foot wedge a few inches ...no big deal. The traps were a little hard and compacted sand, still not a big issue..no issue on the tee boxes although some were being worked on, again no issue. Overall a great value and looks like they are putting some effort back into the course.
The only issue is yardage markers are scarce...150s are not all that visible although the sprinkler heads are marked just a little tough to find them at times.
Overall a great time no issues and we will be back next week.
It's not Augusta but I've paid a lot more elsewhere and got a lot less.
Best deal in the region.
I enjoy the round. No problems to report. This will not be my last time playing here.
Conditions of the course
I use to play this course all the time but then things got so bad and the conditions of the greens so poor I stopped playing there. Someone told me this year that they put alot of money into getting the course back in good condition with great greens. Well, having played the course I'd say they are on the road to recovery.
Coming along.
I spoke to Rob, the GM at the CT golf show and he told me they had just taken the course over and it would take a couple years to get it up to shape. The greens were aerated a week or two ago, but in nice shape overall and bunkers were in nice shape. The tee boxes were a work in progress and the fairways were pretty rough due to the lack of rain this year. There is no doubt this course is in the right hands and will be a nice place to play in 2015.
Needs a lot of work
The course needs a lot of work but I believe by next year this will be a decent course to play.
Getting better, but still a ways to go...
This is the first time I've played this course under its new management, and the first time in almost 3 years. They've made solid strides in getting the course back into shape by cutting the tee boxes down to a normal height, and cleaning up a lot of the old mess. Greens were just aerated and pretty hard to putt on with all the sand. Some fairways are still beat up too...nothing like bombing a drive right down the middle, only to land in a patch of dirt and missing grass. For the money, I've played much better courses in the vicinity.
def worth $21
The course was a little rough in some spots but overall it was good. Some of the Greens had more sand on them then grass, but overall it's a good course and definitely worth $21 for 18 holes in a cart. I would play it again.
Nice course
Course is in better shape than last year. Better
management. Sand traps better maintained, but
greens were sandy and need to be grown out.
Course layout nice
Play was good as well as weather. Aireation was being completed though and lots of sand on greens. Could have used a better brushing of greens and a tag of (A) alert when booking. Will play here again though, as the course is great.
needs work
Greens were super slow. Half the holes when you're hitting out of the fairways you're still hitting off hard pack and dirt.. Tee boxes need some work some were just dirt and some you couldn't even get your tee in the ground it was so hard..
On its way back
Greens were in good shape. Fairways were playable but burned. With tlc it could be a nice course.
dump!
this place is in horrendous shape...period! i wouldnt dream of playing here again, its just not worth paying any money to play on a course this run down!
quick round
We finished in less than 4 hours. And you wont always need your driver on these holes
The course is getting there, good value if you don't pay full price
The greens were in good condition. Carts were brand new. Pace of play was good.
Yes, there are parts of the course in very rough shape, tee boxes need work, fairways need work; I can only imagine how bad things looked at the end of the 2013 season, but overall it is playable.
Would I be disappointed in conditions if I paid full price? Yes, but they have some great prices here and the course won't improve if they don't have any customers.
$20 for 18.... Good deal
For $20 I played 18 with a cart. I think this is a good deal relative to the conditions and difficulty of play. With that said, course play was slow for a course that is not that tough to play.
Beautiful day, average course, bring your towel and sun tan lotion
It was a beautiful day out. Pace of play was very fast. Got done with the round of 18 in under 4 hours. There are literally sand traps EVERYWHERE around the green and in some fairways. The fairways are in alright condition. Can't really complain about the course though. Very good for players who hit the ball straight. Only one or two dog legs.
Poor Course
I played this course and couldn't believe how bad of condition it was in. The were random hills and holes all over the course. Numerous times you thought you were going to Buck out of through golf cart because you hit a crater going slowly. There were brown spots and burnt grass everywhere. This course looked very undermaintained if maintained at all. Very poor course will never play here again!
