One of the toughest holes here is the second, a long par-4 with woods to the left, more trees on the right, and two large bunkers guarding the green. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/01/2024

The fifth is a gem of a par-five, starting with a terrific downhill tee shot and a view of Hartford in the distance. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/01/2024

Nine is a classic uphill par-4; its fairway doglegs left, then heads for this relatively narrow green. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/01/2024

Twelve doglegs right, then ascend a small hill to a pitched green, a green that is often treacherously fast downhill. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/01/2024

Guarding the left of fairway thirteen is a prominent water hazard, but it can be as fatal as it is beautiful. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/01/2024

A golfer putts out on the green at hole fourteen, which may be the best short four-par at East Hartford. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/01/2024

In bad condition
Grass was long the greens were awful just needed some serious maintenance work on the course was very poor shape
The course was in HORRIBLE condition.
The entire course is over run with large areas of thick CLOVER. Have you ever tried to hit from CLOVER !?!?!?
Also, makes finding your ball near impossible. Maybe the worst conditions I have ever experienced in 30+ years.
After heavy rains lately, the course needed a lot of attention.
The "flaming" special was a great price but the course was still too wet from recent rains. I wouldn't want to pay their full price even for dryer conditions. The greens were good however.
Bad drainage
Very wet, bad drainage on course and lots of dead spots in fairway
LongHill Staff Needs Help !!
I golfed this course all year last year, the pro shop staff left something to be desired we always seemed to be a bother. The waitresses in the Restaurant & bar area always seemed a little pre-occupied and concerned only with the big tipping customers, you could always tell who was who. The Kitchen staff was amazing the food was delicious, and the pizza just seemed to get better & better & prices were always fair. The kitchen staff was always eager to please & make your visit pleasurable. The menu seemed to improve over the past few years, quantity as well as quality I would have much rather dine there than golf. I returned there this weekend after waiting so patiently all year for the food & to my surprise I was told the prior kitchen staff was let go, and a entirely new staff was taken over, I gave it a shot, all they could really offer me was a hot dog and I honestly believe I was given a left over hot dog from last year it was dry on the outside and cold raw inside the bread was soggy and the girl working seemed like it matter to her nothing that I was disappointed, if that were last year I wold have been offered a new dog or something else or fully refunded!! Sad to say I won't be going back any time soon. I also wanted to mention the staff look dirty and the kitchen & bar area were filthy. Seems management has made a grave mistake in replacing your staff, I think they made the place promising.
rough is out of control ! traps are full of weeds.
Before you go remember (YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR) I will not return
sub par
tee times apparently mean nothing here. pace of play is not only horrible but there is no staff available to address the situation. the course is in horrible condition compared with the on line picture. easily the worst bunkers I have ever seen, they more resembled concrete traps that somehow managed to grow grass.....very disappointing. even at a substantial discount this course is worth passing on
Not worth it
Course was in poor shape from tee boxes to greens. Even at the price I would rather pay 10 to 15 dollars more elsewhere. Did not play here because of price but for location. I definitely would not recommend this course to anyone!!!!!
OK Condition
They had no carts available....Even though people paid thru your service for them.....The greens were OK....Rough was in dire need of cutting. Fairways were not great. Worth about 10.00
Shabby
It's a shame. This course could be a nice course with a little effort. Just overall lack of attention. Fringe and rough around the greens are really bad.
great open course
This course is great for 90+ scoring players. It's wide enough for novice players but difficult enough for the advance players. Nice greens, the tee box needs help but overall, a nice place to play with the wife.
Decent Shape for early season round
Course was in decent shape for this mid april round. Nice fair course, generous fairways greens were in ok shape...once general daily maintainence kicks in this course is challenging enough for all skill levels.
Lonh Hill east hartford
Greens were fast and in much better shape than expected for so early in the season, fairways good, tee boxes need some work. Staff friendly and helpful. Other players on course courteous. Will definitely go back.
Open course, good for practice. Cheap
Played mid-week, mid-morning on 9/25/12. Went off alone (course not crowded) and was able to play 2-3 balls after tee shots. Course a little rough this year but somewhat understandable as this summer was hot and dry. Last fall fairways and greens were lush but this fall they were spotty.
The course is not difficult, fairways are wide and mostly flat. A small, narrow brook bisects the course so plan shots accordingly.
I had difficulty finding the next few holes in the middle of course. Course was realigned several years ago and better directional signage is needed.
Restaurant is great: good value and large portions.
There are many, many better maintained courses in the area but Long Hill is a good practice course for the price and it not being very busy during the week. Its a shame MDM? (the management company) cannot maintain their courses. I've played all 4 MDM managed course in the Hartford area (Goodwin, Keney, Long Hill and Gillette Ridge) and they are all going downhill fast (Goodwin and Keney especially). It's a disgrace because all four have potential.
If you can get off alone it is a good course for a practice round..
Very poorly kept. Money I saved with "Golf Now" special was spent in balls.
It is late in the season, but the weather is still nice. Yet, even the fairways were several inches high and the leaves were out of control. No effort was made to clean the fairways. The money I saved with the "Golf Now" special was spent on golf balls.
Very wet course, always...
Very disappointed that MCG is allowing another course to go bad.
Great layout, but inconsistent grain of terrain. The fringe is Long, hard and has multiple holes on each hole! Just stay in the fairway and you can score easy...
great value for the reduced rate
I went at 9am on a Tuesday. Course was empty. Check in was friendly and helpful.course was in nice condition. A little soggy on the low laying areas but we had a lot of rain. I think these areas are usually soft, not much they can do. Greens seemed to roll petty good. Tee boxes had decent grass, not bare not plush.
I think the holes up on the hill are very dry and hard so those tees are a little sparse. Course is pretty wide open so fogiving to those of us who are driver challenged. I think you get more than you pay for here but don't expect top of the line. Make sure you eat I'm the restaurant. On the deck if possible. Cheep and good.
shorter medium difficulty course.
The course is shorter, the condition was good, but the tees could use some attention. The greens were real good. Play was very slow which has not been the case when I played it before.
Liked the course, fun, but challenging.
Fun little course. Great value! Tee boxes need attention. Course signage to direct you to the next hole could be better. Very small greens.
