One of the toughest holes here is the second, a long par-4 with woods to the left, more trees on the right, and two large bunkers guarding the green. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/01/2024

The fifth is a gem of a par-five, starting with a terrific downhill tee shot and a view of Hartford in the distance. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/01/2024

Nine is a classic uphill par-4; its fairway doglegs left, then heads for this relatively narrow green. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/01/2024

Twelve doglegs right, then ascend a small hill to a pitched green, a green that is often treacherously fast downhill. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/01/2024

Guarding the left of fairway thirteen is a prominent water hazard, but it can be as fatal as it is beautiful. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/01/2024

New Management encouraging, but a LONG ways to go.
Pros: Pace of play was fantastic. Anytime a round is under 4 hours despite a foursome in front of you, that's a great speed. The staff were also very friendly and welcoming.
Cons: The condition of the course is flat-out bad. Diseased fairways and greens, uneven tee boxes, lots of weeds in the rough. Very overpriced for the condition of the course.
I understand that Billy Casper golf has taken over after the disaster that was MDM, and that is a cause for optimism in the years to come, but there's still a LONG way to go. I'm going to wait a few years before I consider returning. They do great work up at Wintonbury, so I will eventually give this course another chance someday when they get to improve it to their standards. Until then, I'd stay away.
Good fun
It went down hill for a few years and now that billy has a hand on it, it can only get better. Course is getting better and better everyday.
Great game for the price
I played at 6:30 am with my brother. We were the first ones out on the course. Great conditions, just a few low areas that were a little wet, otherwise it was perfect out. Not the greatest course out there but definitely worth the money.
Great improvements
This can be a challenging little course. Hope they keep making the improvements they say they will. I would have no problem returning to play.
Average but has potential.
Average.
Too pricey for venue.
Very wet.
Very nice people.
Well run.
An 80 mins. From my home.
If in area I would replay, at lesser price.
Definitely worth taking another chance on this course
I was looking for a course to play that was close to work and picked this one. I read the reviews that were awful and did a google search and found that they are under new management since October of 2013. I had a great conversation with the pro shop guy. If this course used to be as bad as people said it was then the difference now must be night and day. Conditions I think were pretty good for the winter we've had and all the rain. You can tell they are working hard to get this place in top condition. There were very few people on the course which was nice. I played eighteen in about two hours and forty five minutes. Only thing I would like to see if some special discounts on golf now. Usually you can find a couple here and there for $25 (18 & cart) but all of the deals for this course were for $40. If they want to build up the brand maybe offer some more discount tee times but even for $40 it's a good deal. Will definitely go back and can't wait to see what it looks like by the end of the season
rebirth of an old place
Course needs some time to get back to the way it was many years ago. Keep moving forward would be the most important message to owners and staff.
The course needs alot of work.
Went to the desk to check in and the gentleman working said that we would have to call golf now and cancel the tee time because they did not have enough carts and we would not finish in time for there golf league. After a couple minutes of talking he let us take the cart out and said we only had three hours to use the cart. After a few holes the cart ran out of gas and had to push it back to the club house and take another cart.. Very unsatisfied with the course conditions and lack of service at the course. I will not return to long hill golf course.
This course is the pits! Poorly kept both in the fairways and on the greens.
We quit after 12 holes. Grass was not mowed off the fairway or around the greens. Prepare to lose balls. Greens were bare and bumpy. Even at $20 w/cart this is a waste of time and money.
No apparent maintenance.
No apparent maintenance. Greens in rough shape, tees worn out, bare spots in fairways, poor drainage in areas, etc
course needs work, severely neglected
course needs work, severely neglected, ruff 6-8" spent an hour searching for balls
It's in very poor shape
I played it a few times in the spring and it was ok. You could see the course conditions deteriorate over the past few years, but this year it's pretty bad.
So Long to Long Hill
Round costed $20 but almost called the town of east Hartford to ask for it back. Have played here for 3 years and will never go back. Yes I know it's a muni but the course is in such bad shape felt like playing in the backyard. The greens were shaggy and had weeds on them. Could not putt at all like a Flintstones cartoon where the ball moved 10 times on the way to the hole and witha healthy putter swing it still had a hard time getting to the hole! Sad sad sad! Like the title says! So long Long Hill! Goodbye! Thanks for the good times until you stopped being a golf course.
Learned Friendly Course
The course is a little worst for wear BUT it was only the 4 time my friend had played golf. I played winter rules if it landed on dirt I moved it to the closest grass in fairway otherwise played it where it laid. The pace of play let them take their time and hit extra shots as they felt they wanted to. There were lots of couples playing. Our pace of play was only slow because we let other twosomes play thru. We had a good time and will return. Not your Pristine 5-10 handicap golfers course. Fairways lacked but they were watering them trying to bring them back. You could always find grass to hit from Greens were a little bumpy. Again they do water them.
Course needs big time attention
I was golfing with one other person, we usually go every week and try new courses. I was very displeased with the course conditions, the group before us was horrendous along with the group in front of them. The course was over booked, we were suppose to play 18 but instead we barely made it to 9 without wanting to give up on the course. Since it was so cheap we didn't care about the back 9. Overall terrible experience, needs big improvement.
Course needs either a lot of work or a decrease in price
Course is in very rough shape. Basically had to play lift and clean on more than a few holes due to fairways being mud. The rough/fairway/greens loooked like they hadn't been cut for a day or 2 and the rough is mostly crab grass. Should be the kind of place you pay $15 for the whole day with a cart. Not $30 for 18 as a "deal".
There were also water fountains (but not turned on) and no other water put out, no rakes for sand traps, no trash cans so beer cans are piled up around the hole signs, and the score card was printed on a piece of computer paper. Bathroom had bar napkins in lieu of paper towels.
Do yourself a favor and pay a little extra to go somewhere else until they get new management company and get it back under control.
Good for the $
Course can be long, bunkers need attention, no problems with tee time, good value
course is not maintained
The fairways were beginning to revert to dirt in some areas. The sand traps were not in good condition. This course may become unplayable as the summer goes on.
