Great value
Amazing value for this course if you get a hot deal on golf now. Course was in good condition, greens were a little on the slow side but taken care of. One of the better courses in the area. I think I paid $35, worth double that.

Black Course is a nice layout. Rough was challenging. Some rough spots on fairways, near greens but lack of rain doesn't help- For the most part, fairways in good shape. Greens are in nice shape but too, too slow and that affects round. Will play again.
Hey "u000005651070" thank you so much for the positive review! We are glad that you were happy with the course conditions and we hope to see you again soon.
Great layout
Amazed at the elevation changes. Look forward to playing here again. It's been over 20 years since I last played the course.
Hey "deltajudge" thank you for the positive review! We hope you wait another 20 years before you come back again!
Good day
Enjoyable layout. Greens a little heavy. Overall a good day.
Hey "Mike7361019" that yoy for the 5* review! Happy to hear that you liked the layout and hope to see you again soon!
Good course layout bad geeens
Course had a pretty good layout but the greens were the absolute worst greens ive played on. Slow bumpy greens.
Hi "Mpk6012" we apologize that you were not satisfied with the course conditions. We are always working to improve to provide that ultimate golfing experience. We hope you will come back out and play soon.
new gps carts
Windy day but a good old course
Hey "TKuehn801" thank you for the positive review! Come see us again soon.
Back on the Black
This is a fun course, it has some interesting holes, and some hard holes that if you don't place your drive correctly you can get yourself in trouble. The only down side to this course is the carts, they have this new GPS set up and the carts shut down when you get off the cart path, near a sand trap, or near the green. it really affects the pace of the game! I will not ride in the future because it is so bad
Hey "xmas1225" we are glad to hear that you enjoyed the layout on the course and had a fun time out there! Now that golf season is here we hope to see you again soon!
november golf
Great weather for the time of year, not too crowded and excellent course conditions made for a very nice day. Only down side was I didn't bring my "A" game. Look forward to playing the course again.
Great layout. Challenging course
Fairchild black course was very challenging course with several long par 4's. Lots of elevation changes with beautiful views. Very nice for a municipal course. Only drawbacks were the turf conditions of a few tees boxes and some of the rough was in fair condition. Sand in bunkers was awesome.
Great shape of fairway!!
Only, 6500 yards of whole length of back tee. It was a great place to play beginner and expert player. Historic golf course(since 1934) I've been playing. Firway and green were well maintenance. Some holes are beautiful senic view. I strongly recomand weekend player for one day fun.
Paid for group of 2 players and paired with 2 others for foursome
I specifically chose this course based on the offer of a 2 player tee time at a reasonable price per player. Staff at the cart launch was barely communicative, did not listen, and when out of his way upon release of cart to us to add two other players after we left for the first tee. once we were in the middle of driving the first ball, he shouts out to us that he's added the two behind us to form a foursome and that we must stay together. Then, when the other players went ahead at after the first hole, he went out of his way come back to us just before we left the first tee and then tracked the other two down to pair us up again, threatening me to "get off the course" If I didn't like it! How rude, insensitive, and fundamentally lacking in even basic people skills! The other two players were very experienced. We were essentially beginners and slowed down the other two players considerably. Ultimately, the first 9 holes took nearly 4 hours! They chose to leave after the ninth hole although they had planned earlier to play the full 18. we continued through the full 18. If we weren't paired like that, both groups of 2 would have moved along much faster even through the first 9 holes and would have been a much better pace for both twosomes than what this guy organized for us! Even though I liked the course and the golf store staff, I would not recommend the Wheeler because the cart staff are the first line of interaction with the playing customers and need to understand pairing and exercise flexibility, making exceptions in some cases rather than applying black & white rules to all situations!
No bargain
Had not played the couses in many years but found it to be improved since it not managed and maintained by the city. Kudos to the staff for operating a First Tee progam. We decided to play the Senior (Gold) tees and ride as it was a very hot and humid day event at 9 AM. We were sent off early and played 9 in 1:45 - great! There really are not Senior tees - they were just placed adjacent to the women's (red) tees, so I played a little too easy.
My issue is that the GolfNow rate was the same as the walk up rate, so we ended up payin $5 more for the GolfNow booking.
Rising Star
Played the Black Course today. This track has gone from a rock to a gem in a few years time. Greens were in great shape. The fairways cut nicely giving good roll to any drives you put in the center. Course has a lot of character especially the back 9. Really enjoyed the lay out.
The black course is a challenge
The black course is very challenging you have to position your ball on certain parts of the fairway or you can end up in trouble. the course is very hilly if you don't hit your ball where your aiming you can easily lose 20-50 yards. so if your up to a good challenge this is the course for you.

Beautiful opening round
It was a beautiful day on one of the first weekends the course was open. Greens were in pretty good shape and so were the fairways. With the winter we had, I was pleasantly surprised.
Very Nice Public Course
My buddy & I played the Black Course (there's also a Red Course) & the walking rate was $15 for 18 holes. It is December after all, so the course was definitely in winter conditions with temperature around low 40's, but definitely warm enough if you layer up (I had a turtleneck, windshirt, sleeveless light fleece & my FJ raincoat & pants...plenty warm). Course is a little hilly on the back more than the front (I was cruising on the front, but slowed down a little on the hillier back since I usually take a care a cart, but walked due to temperature...my buddy who walks a lot had a much easier time of it). All in all, a great workout. Holes were fairly long from the white tees (about 6279 yards with a par 71) making it feel really challenging when you add the temp, wind & elevation. My buddy beat me 3 ways so I'm probably being a little critical, butI really enjoyed the course & would definitely go back again. An interesting fact is that it is located in Fairfield, but is owned by the city of Bridgeport.
Good course
Some really tough holes and some easy holes...overall a good challenge and finished the round in under 4 hours
Great bang for your buck.
Nice layout and good conditions for this time of the season. It was not too crowded so it was a very enjoyable round.
