Very Nice Public Course
My buddy & I played the Black Course (there's also a Red Course) & the walking rate was $15 for 18 holes. It is December after all, so the course was definitely in winter conditions with temperature around low 40's, but definitely warm enough if you layer up (I had a turtleneck, windshirt, sleeveless light fleece & my FJ raincoat & pants...plenty warm). Course is a little hilly on the back more than the front (I was cruising on the front, but slowed down a little on the hillier back since I usually take a care a cart, but walked due to temperature...my buddy who walks a lot had a much easier time of it). All in all, a great workout. Holes were fairly long from the white tees (about 6279 yards with a par 71) making it feel really challenging when you add the temp, wind & elevation. My buddy beat me 3 ways so I'm probably being a little critical, butI really enjoyed the course & would definitely go back again. An interesting fact is that it is located in Fairfield, but is owned by the city of Bridgeport.
Good course
Some really tough holes and some easy holes...overall a good challenge and finished the round in under 4 hours
Great bang for your buck.
Nice layout and good conditions for this time of the season. It was not too crowded so it was a very enjoyable round.
Black Course
Great Place......Course was in very good condition...
Will definitely return
very hilly hard to follow ball
All in all I would play this course again greens where good course was in good shape
This course is average at best
The price was very good and that's probably the only reason I played here
Had a great day
Course couls have been better on the greens, but overall not bad.
Classic course trying to make comeback
Classic course that is in much better condition than a few years ago, but still has a way to go. Greens are slow and the area around the greens are very spotty, thick grass , thin areas, rocks etc make " getting up and down a :crapshoot"
We started late in the day and the back nine we had 2 groups on each tee, for no reason.
The personnel at this course, are hands down the grumpiest and most non friendly people you can encounter. Almost like they are told to be angry and mean.
not bad
this course is not bad. fairway condition was not good. they need to maintain fairway condition.
Very good course
great condition and good time on the course and in the 19th hole
The course is in very good condition!
The only caveat was the speed of the greens, a little slow, otherwise we had a great day of golf!
Lucky
Got a great rate, plus after the rain we were an early group going out. 18 holes in less than 3 hours is a rarity these days
No waiting
The staff was very nice and helpful. The course was in great condition except for a few patchy spots. All in all a fund golfing experience.
fairchild
Should of read the fine print, this was a walking rate which was only six dollars less than the courses rate with a cart, not a deal
Great course!!
Played here Sat with my brother. Pace of play was really good..4 hrs and 15 mins. Course was in good condition and staff was very nice
Great golf course played for the 1st time
Although the weather didn't cooperate, we had a great time playing the black course. Fog throughout the day hampered the visual aspect of playing golf. We still enjoyed our time and look forward to returning yo play in warmer/clearer conditions.
Facility and both courses are worth the trip.
Great Deal poor first impression
I couldn't resist the $12 tee time... Course was nice, Starter was put-off.. sums it up
Interesting layout, but needs more maintenance
Being a public course, you expect slow play, but the course has no rangers to move slow groups, and people have no concern for the course-no one fixes ball marks or rake traps
Great conditions.
The playing conditions were very good. The pace of play was good. Great day for golf! It was good to see the course busier than on other visits. This did lead to a pace issue. The twosome behind us were teeing off prior to our hitting our second shot. Let the group pass at the turn. Back nine was much better.
