Good Golf Course
Was pleasantly surprised. Liked the layout, fairways were decent, greens slower than expected. Traps actually had soft sand... Pins did not have sponge fillers to mitigate COVID-19 transmission. Need to improve hole signage on Black from 9th hole to the 10th.
Good course to play
The hole layout is good. The pace of play was very good. With Covid-19 you pay for the cart separately.
Tee times available during the weekdays so you can book a tee time the day before.

Fairchild Wheeler is lucky to have a decently kept course in the black, so kudos to the maintenance staff for fairways and solid greens. However, the Pro Shop staff here is ridiculously unprofessional. Consisting of several different people handling transactions, I have heard of and witnessed extremely contentious encounters where staff is blatantly rude to paying customers for absolutely no good reason; there is no desire to work with customers or display any hospitality whatsoever, and was seen yet again this weekend. This is clearly a reflection of the management, who has also shown they don’t want to be bothered with and leave these situations/decisions to inexperienced staff. I have heard similar experiences from many others that have played here and this is enough to not return to the course.

Great layout
The course at this time is laid out very well, pin placement has been challenging and fun. The greens are awful however. Not well cared for and bumpy.

Confrontational staff
Superintendent of the course confronted us inappropriately and unexpectedly. Hose was left right off the green on hole 14. Disappointed because I usually love the course, but today just wasn’t it fam.

Doing fine
The greens were in very good shape but a little slow. The fairways were ok but some areas were burnt. Overall, a good day out.

Not THAT bad but...
I just moved to the area and have been enjoying all of the golf courses in Fairfield County. Wheeler is not THAT bad of a course but compared to all of the gems around here it definitely falls short.
Course was in decent shape but tee boxes were the worst shape. Bunkers weren’t very consistent. Also, greens were slow. Lots of LONG par 4s but the short par 5s and par 3s (besides 7) make the overall number lower. Only 33 bucks to walk and you’ll still have fun, but plenty of better courses around.

I feel that the back nine is a better layout than the front nine, but this course has some challenging holes and it definitely warrants a trip to try it......and I'm a tough critic of golf courses!

Course cancelled play to day and I was not notified nor was I refunded my in advance payment.
