12 short holes and poor signage
This course has recently reopened after 360 golf bought Farrington park championship course.
They converted it to 12 holes (it’s the future apparently), kicked out 800 members, then proceeded to increase the price for your ‘round’. you can literally pay the same fees and play 18holes at many courses within 10miles.
The course layout is poor, long walks between greens and tees, no signage, walked the wrong way many times. The lakes have been drained and are now an accident waiting to happen. The bunkers are great and some of the green complexes are nice.
At best this course is worth £15 a round, I would happily pay £10-15 to play this course if every other course was shut. Currently (2025) 360 golf are asking for £50+ for a round of golf on a weekend here.. which is laughable.
Late 2025 mad swans had an open competition where 4 men entered.. that was it, the whole event was canceled. The open fees were £45 +
Avoid this course until the owners value it at what it truly is , slightly better than a pitch and putt and a throw away round for practice.
No etiquette required, no standards, extreme prices, ridiculous cost for food and drink, empty pro shop, more staff on site than golfers, only play if you can get it heavily reduced price.
New Mad Swans 12 hole course
First time playing the new course which has been reconfigured to be 12 holes. First of all the whole venue has been completely revamped and looks great. The golf course was a mixture of old course holes (slightly redesigned) and new holes with some great new landscaping and bunkers added. I enjoyed the 12 holes and wasn’t disappointed with the course design (apart from a lot of deep rough!). It was strange not to go the full 18 holes but the overall experience was just as good. Food and drink afterward was great - amazing pizza!
Give it 12 months and it will be great!
This will be a great venue next summer when hopefully the course surroundings look less like a construction project. They have done a great job on course design and most of the playing areas ( greens, bunkers & fairways) are in good condition but a lot of the aligning landscape is still in a virgin state! Signage especially from the 10th to the 11th needs to be better as even the handwritten sandwich board that's in place is a task to find! When all the water features are filled and the rocks dissapear I'm sure the look and feel will be even better! As for 12 holes, brilliant! two hours and 3 lost balls and I was done! Final point on value for money, I got a hot deal for £36 but morning tee times are £42. This is pretty steep in comparison to surrounding 18 hole courses especially as like I've mentioned above it's still a work in progress site! £25/£30 for 12 holes in its current state would be fair in my opinion. Look forward to going back next summer to see it in its full bloom!
Expensive for what it is
This course looked to have found a middle ground between 9 and 18 holes, and at a fair price point of £30. The course is challenging and well kept. It doesn't quite flow in a few places, but is generally a good course. However, that has all changed as the prices have now been doubled to £60 a round.
You can get cheaper prices for a full 18 holes, so why on earth you'd pay for a ¾ course, I don't know. This will put off a lot of customers who just want to drop in.
Brand new course and different was to play 12 holes ,18 available, this course is very good, greens are top tier, played on my own and it took 2 1/2 hours, very well designed course.
