3rd: par-4, 430. This Cape design tempts you to take the shortest route down the fairway toward the green (on left). Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 08/07/2021

7th, par-3, 220. A well-guarded and contoured green; a pleasant backdrop. Seen here from its left flank. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 08/07/2021

8th: par-4, 352. Green complex at this short and steeply downhill hole--made perilous by a pond. Eagle potential, however. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 08/07/2021

The par-4 14th, 447. Long, beautiful, and possibly deadly. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 08/07/2021

Sixteen is another excellent, long par-4 concluding on this green. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 08/07/2021

18th, par-5 of 588. The signature hole? I’ll go for that. Great bunkering from Mungeam. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 08/07/2021

Good Round
Even with all the rain the course was in playable shape. Can’t wait to get back there in dryer conditions.
Fall golf
Played on a cool and brisk but sunny Sunday morning. Staff called in the morning to let me know it would be walking only due to wet conditions (expected this) but still good to get a call. Course was wet but in generally very good condition - fairways in great shape, greens very playable. Very nice layout. Will certainly play again.
No carts
Carts were not available due to wet conditions. This information was not made available at the time of booking. IT NEEDED TO BE. Was not an issue for us as we were able to walk the course. However, the twosome in front of us could not walk and left the course very dissatisfied.
Perfect Conition
Best time of year to play the best course in the area! Due to heavy rain the day before, I was notified by the course that it would be carts only. I really appreciated the heads up. It's a long course with enough hills to make you wonder about walking it but we did and it really isn't that bad to walk. The course is in Excellent condition. They have a beautiful bar/restaurant that was unfortunately closed which I thought was odd and was very disappointed because the food is awesome. It was very cold when we tee'd off at 1230 with a lot of wind so i'm assuming that went into their decision to not open it - not that many players on the course. Call before you go to check status of restaurant so you don't starve like we did. I highly recommend this course for golfers that want a challenge and demand perfection in the way of fairways and greens.
CT Nat is excellent
Fairways were wet and muddy in spots, but better than just about everyone else I have played in the last month (it has rained a ton lately). Greens were excellent, great pace, conditions were excellent. I love the layout, you have to think about every tee shot due to traps, doglegs, or hazards. Range was closed due to rain, but short game area is open. Can't way to go back.
Filling a need to a golf starved area
CTN is in a area that basically has no other golf courses. One approach would be to offer basic golf at high prices. I am happy to report neither is the case here. From the tips it stretches out to almost 7000 yds providing low handicappers with all they can handle. This is a true woodsland mountain course but without the choked off fairways. They give you reasonable width in the fairways. The green complexes are interesting and sloped and pretty fast. You definitely need a couple of rounds to know where you need to play to. The routing was enjoyable. My criticisms are pace of play (5 1/2 hours) and beat up greens. If you are in the area it is a place you should play at least once.
Never a bad day at this course
I played on a Friday afternoon after days of rain. I just played Raceway the previous day and the ground was soaked so I had many plugged balls. They were a few wet spots here but overall the course was in amazing shape. The greens were good. I’ve never had a bad round of golf at this course and I’ve played numerous times. Two thumbs up to the grounds crew and the people that run this place
This is how you manage a golf course...
I actually felt badly paying "aeration rate" greens fees because other that being a tad slower than the normal "like putting on your kitchen floor" sped, the greens were in excellent shape.
Really, it's all about how the course handled the "aeration window". The aeration dates were published on their website. When I called the pro shop to check on conditions, I got an honest, no BS answer. When I showed up at the course, I got the aeration rate (again, felt a bit guilty about that). The starter was on the putting green, reminding players that the greens were running a bit slow, but were more than playable. That, fellow hackers, is how a top-shelf course manages its guests expectations.
My only beef, really, is not with the staff, but with other players? Do you really think that because the greens have been aerated recently that it's okay NOT to repair your ballmark? That's a trick question: it is NOT okay.
Make no mistake, this is a top-shelf track. You'll need every shot in your bag AND you'll need to mindful of your course management skills; both will be tested.
I drive 90 minutes to play this joint 2-3 times a year. I wish I lived closer.
Well done, CTN staff...well done, indeed.
extremely slow
If it wasn't a decent price, with the slow play, I wouldn't play again. Greens were aiirated and didn't roll well.(Bumpy)
Love this place
Shot an 80 today. Love playing here. Greens were air rated sometime last week. So wasnt to bad. Love the layout and course was in good shape. Cant wait to play again. Only bad thing was it took 5 hours to play
Great Time !!!!
I love everything about the course. Great shape, Each hole has it’s own shape,. Hit every club in the bag. Staff is so nice !!!!! Absolutely love this place !!!! And everyone I have ever played with has the same rave reviews !!!! Thank you GolfNow and Connecticut National !!!!
Friendly and playable course
Took advantage of hot deal at @49 vs normal rate of $69. Have played this course a few times prior. It's is great shape and a layout that requires you to use every club in your bag. Ate in their pub afterward. Small sandwich menu but more than acceptable. Food was good. Overall, for the average golfer this course offers a great New England experience.

Thanks for the detailed review.
I'm considering playing this course--nice to hear that it plays fairly.
