About
Wheeler Family Traditions Golf Club (formerly known as The Tradition Golf Club at Wallingford) is one of the most affordable rounds in the area and it has received praise as one of the best golf courses in Connecticut. The par-70 layout is player friendly enough for beginners but low handicappers will also find it to be a fun round. The holes are fairly straightforward though there are some fairways that have very narrow landing areas that will test the accuracy of even the best golfers. Numerous bunkers are strategically placed along the undulating greens and water also comes into play on the occasional hole. The golf course starts out gently but becomes progressively more challenging on the back nine. The most memorable hole on the golf course, the par-3 12th, is a water hole that features an intimidating island green.

Pace of play wasn't great, took about 4:35 to play the round

One issue
Outstanding golf course!!
Love playing here.
Way too many ball marks on every green.
You would think the members would step up to resolve, unless they are culprits.
Again, one of the better golf courses in ct.
let’s get those ball marks repaired.

Course was in beautiful condition. Very friendly. I went as a single and hooked up with three guys that were just fun to play with

Great time, diverse course, excellent staff
Met a buddy to play here, not familiar with the area courses so went off the reviews here and I was not disappointed. The staff was among the best I've seen at a public course; professional, polite and friendly. The course itself was a lot of fun, various challenges and more elevation change than most courses I have played. Not terribly difficult and some great views on holes, very relaxing. Condition of course was good, grass a little thicker than most but acceptable. I would absolutely go out of my way to return here, for the price it was excellent.
A different front nine
The course is in fantastic shape even after the tornado of last week. The staff has done an excellent job clearing all of the debris. The tornado took down a lot of trees that were in play on the front 9. Based on that the front 9 is slightly easier.
cleanup after the storm
The course was is excellent shape in only 9 days after the Storm. You could see the extent of the trees lost and the area they had to put the limbs and branches. A tremendous amount of cleanup work done in that short amount of time.
Great day
Had a great day. Enjoyed myself from start to finish. The facility had a private feel to it but was obviously open to the public. As soon as we pulled in they picked up our bags at my car which is usually not expected at a public course. When you walk in they have an actual pro who is running the operation. All very impressive to us . The course was beautiful. The greens are very fast however. So take warning and stay under the flag. Thanks again!
First round of the season
Conditions were a little soggy due to the time of year/weather but will improve as the season goes on. Great course. Great price.
Challenging course!
Some tight fairways along with sloping fairways. Fairways & Greens were in great shape! The staff was super !!!
Had a great lunch @ a reasonable price.

Slow with waiting at every hole but glorious day at the Tradition at Wallingford.
People not repairing ball marks but otherwise course in great condition. My ball hit the pin on 18 but didn't drop in....
Great course but not for a novice
We enjoy this course every time we play. It is a public course so beware of the less educated golfer! Staff is always great and when the beverage cart comes around see if you can get the egg sandwich! OMG Deliciousness...
I’m back!
I haven’t played this course in over 5 years. The last time I played the staff was so rude I swore I would never return.
Using GOLFNOW.COM I played 18 holes all alone due to the frost delay.
The pro shop/starter was super cordial as were the course workers I met.
The course was in great shape. It’s a pity I found ball marks and huge divot slices of earth not replaced throughout the course.
It’s a pity the players don’t respect this course.
