West at White Pines Golf Course

About
Situated just 30 minutes from downtown Chicago, White Pines Golf Club has been a popular spot for both locals and visitors. The club offers two courses, the East and the West. The West Course is longer than the East by 400 yards and considered slightly more challenging. The layout is relatively tight and there is an abundance of trees, which means you'll need to be accurate to do well. The greens are large and challenging with difficult-to-read breaks. There is also minimal, but strategic bunkering along the greensides. The fairways provide plenty of variety with some that are narrow and heavily tree-lined and others that are wide with no trees in sight. The golf course has several challenging holes but it's forgiving enough for beginners to approach with confidence.

Great Course for the money
It is a great course for the money, It is well kept overall, the 17th Green had some serious divots but I blame the people not fixing their divots not the course. Everyone who worked there was nice. The course is challenging enough and beautiful. One of the better public courses and I will be going back again definitely
Underwhelming
Staff was friendly and helpful checking in. Course could be maintained better and overall was tired looking. The pace of play was so slow,. There were rangers out, but not keeping the pace of play anywhere near what the course said it should be. For the price there are better courses.
East course has some tight fairways with a lot of trees
Course was quick. Starter was all over the ensuring people on the practice green and range with an upcoming tee time got to the box. One course. This year finished under pace of play time.
Tried a New Course
Was excited to play White Pines for the first time. Staff was friendly and accommodating. The two disappointing things were the slow pace of play and the condition of the course. There were rangers on the course who did not keep us close to the posted time for a round. The course itself was not maintained that well. Am comparing the course conditions to others played for similar greens fee. This is unfortunate because the layout of the course is good and it has some challenging holes.
Decent course
Staff could be friendlier, Cart path’s need to be fixed all over both east and west. Course is in good condition.
White Pines East 9/25/24
Course was in great shape. Hasn't been aerated as of 9/25/24. Leaves are beginning to fall so finding your ball, even 5 feet off the fairway, may be difficult and lead to longer rounds.
GPS?
Nice course, decent price on GolfNow. We have played here 3 times this season, and the GPS is never working. Also, had a fivesome in front of us, including a single that was walking. Really slowed things down. Had to wait on almost every hole. Concession stand was not open. Finally, the cart paths could really use some repairs. Still enjoyed the round.
