First time playing here
We wanted to try a course that where we never played before today. We were not disappointed. The course has some challenging holes,, but plays fairly. We will be coming back to play here.
The Beast
We call BW the Beast due to the length in combination with the challenge this course offers from start to finish. Always in great shape, this is a fun round. Especially for a money game.
Balmoral Woods Golf Course
Balmoral Woods is a great golf course to challenge yourself. The fairways are tight and some greens play uphill and some play downhill. My only comment is that the women tea boxes need to be repaired and treat it because they were in terrible condition.
George our day, great course, excellent value!
Primo-quality weather was the backdrop for a great day at Balmoral Woods. Pace was quick with well-spaces groups. Course has a great layout, especially noteworthy are #7 downhill left dogleg par 5, #12 similarly configured par 5, #13 long par 3 over the deep valley/creek, and #16 short par 3 over a pond. All-in-all, it’s a great layout with a great variety. Recommendations for the course management: 1) cart paths are becoming nearly unserviceable in spots - they need fixing; 2) more than a couple greens show considerable stress and need help. Overall though, the course is green and well manicured.
Well-located halfway house accessible from the #8 and #13 greens. Nice hot dogs and good selection of beverages.
Nice, hard course.
Course was fun/challenging. Greens moved. Tee boxes were a mess. Often not on flat ground
Difficult Course
Courses are generally not easy for average level golfers. Slopes are not easy to manage and too many.
Beautiful course, SLOW play
What starts off with a bit of a whimper on the first couple holes really turns into some of the most interesting holes around. Very cool use of elevation change on many of the later holes, winding through a really nice wooded area. The course was very well kept too. The rough was short enough to make finding stray balls very easy.
The layout can be a little confusing in areas, and can use a little more direction signage.
The main issue I had was the pace of play. I was there midday on a Tuesday. and there was a foursome, backed up by a foursome, that was backed up by another foursome. No starters or rangers when I was there. The groups were seemingly careless about the amount of time they were taking on holes, or the fact that others were waiting behind.
With a ranger keeping pace, this is a 5 star course.
DO NOT PLAY HERE
Terrible value. Paid $58 on a Saturday and there are much nicer courses for same price or less in the greater Chicagoland area. Greens were slow, inconsistent and patchy. Fairways were not manicured in any way and some holes had weeds and small shrubs growing in them. The lay out of the course isn't that bad, but the horrible conditions makes this course a DO NOT PLAY, especially not for $58!!!! Probably worth $18.
Great course
We had a great time. The course can be tough, so the tee boxes are a good representation of the degree of difficulty. Staff is great
